Darn. Missed this by just 15 minutes. And the winner only got it for $10! Not likely to see that again any time soon. Probably even rarer than WITA! -Taylor I saved these pictures back in 2012 when Taylor spotted this item on ebay. I had the first picture as my background screensaver for years and I saw it every day. I was being notified of searches on ebay under several keywords every day. I looked through new items listed every day for 5 years. I had hoped one of our members had won the one that Taylor had spotted but it was never mentioned again. I obviously missed it twice early this year in January and February. I opened my email notifications one morning in late February and I thought I was seeing things, it was there. Do you think I could bid for it, every thing that possibly could go wrong did, Passwords locked, cards out of date, computer not responding, arggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. After about forty minutes I got the impression I had secured the item.. Whew !

No Martin, no commiserations needed, I got it. after delays with US Customs on the way out of the States and more delays with the snow in Europe it was delayed for several weeks. But it finally arrived, in perfect condition, just a few fingermarks on the discs. A recording from 2004 that I had never heard before. It took a while to locate Hayley's parts on the recordings, two songs, about 6 minutes in total and various bursts of vocal sounds (Elvish) in many parts of the recording. One of them is Gollum's song. The other is Into the West. Interestingly there is no May it be on the performance. A version of Gollum's song like Hayley's version is on this video sung by Emilianna Torrini with lyrics in the information section that seem to be about the same as the lyrics Hayley sings. A version of INTO THE WEST similar to Hayley's version

Here is a much more pleasant version of Gollum's Song, for those of us unfortunate enough not to hear Hayley's.

Hayley Westenra used these lyrics 7th or 8th October 2004 Gollum's Song written by Fran Walsh The Lord Of The Rings Symphony with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra
Where once was light Now darkness falls Where once was love Love is no more
Don't say - goodbye Don't say - I didn't try...
These tears we cry Are falling rain For all the lies
(You told us) omitted The hurt, the blame !
And we will weep To be so alone We are lost! We can never go home
So in the end I will be - what I will be No loyal friend Was ever there for me
Now we say - goodbye We say - you didn't try...
These tears you cry Have come too late Take back the lies The hurt, the blame !
And you will weep When you face the end alone You are lost ! You can never go home
You are lost ! You can never go home

Hayley Westenra used these lyrics 7th or 8th October 2004 Into the West Written by Fran Walsh, Howard Shore and Annie Lennox The Lord Of The Rings Symphony with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra
Lay down Your sweet and weary head Night is falling You have come to journey's end Sleep now And dream of the ones who came before They are calling From across the distant shore
Why do you weep? What are these tears upon your face ? Soon you will see All of your fears will pass away Safe in my arms You're only (sleeping) dreaming
[Chorus] What can you see On the horizon ? Why do the white gulls call ? Across the sea A pale moon rises The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn To silver glass A light on the water Grey ships pass (All souls pass) omitted
Hope fades Into the world of night Through shadows falling Out of memory and time Don't say we have come now to the end White shores are calling You and I will meet again
And you'll be here in my arms Just sleeping
[Chorus] What can you see On the horizon ? Why do the white gulls call ? Across the sea A pale moon rises The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn To silver glass A light on the water Grey ships pass Into the West
