I am in need of a new Mp3 player. The one I have, a Zune player, still works perfectly fine. However, I have found out that Zune has been eliminated. The program and it's devices are no longer available to purchase/install/download. I didn't know that, because up until several months ago, I still had the software installed to Windows 7, and so I had no reason to find this out. However, ever since switching to Windows 10, my Zune software is nowhere to be found, and of course, the software can no longer be installed. This means I cannot add any new music to my player! I tried to get my player to sync to Windows Media, but it does not seem to recognize it. I believe the computer itself knows something is plugged in, because it makes a little sound when I plug it in or pull it out. But other than that, the computer shows no signs of recognizing that something is connected. Is this because Zune is outdated, or is there some issue with my computer that's preventing it from connecting? Is there some way I can troubleshoot this, or is my Zune doomed? I hate to throw it way, since it works just fine. It is a little old, though. I think I got it in 2010!
So, anyway, I'm thinking of getting some sort of Ipod, since I discovered I somehow have the Itunes software (I don't know if I can use the Itunes store or not yet). I recently imported all my music to Itunes. But, I have no device to put it onto yet!
Soo... I'm considering getting an Ipod Nano. Any tips or recommendations on that? I worry that even if I do get one, somehow my computer won't recognize it.

Hi Libby,
as far as I know,
Anything with the "I-something " I-pod, I-pad, I-Phone is an Apple product, Mixing Apple products and Microsoft software is not a good idea. Trust me, I have had 25 years of compatibility problems with Apple V Microsoft.
Your Windows 10 is a Microsoft Product.
it should still be able to work and recognise the Zune, I think The Zune is a Windows / Microsoft based device.
Did you get a software disc with the Zune when you bought it ?

How can I re-install it if it doesn't exist anymore? If it's not available anymore, I don't see how it could still be available to install/download. And no, there was never any disc, I just went to the website and clicked something to get into installed.
And why would I have Itunes on my computer if it doesn't work? The program is on there and imported my music. My sister is able to hook up her Iphone to Windows, so why wouldn't I be able to hook up an Ipod?

I just tried the link to download it, but now I can't find where it is on my computer to open it. Oh, wait, never mind, I found it! And it's working! Thanks, Martin! You've just saved me a lot of trouble! And money! LOL The reason I thought I couldn't use Zune anymore was because when I did a search on Zune's working with Windows 10, I found the media headline about Zune being ended, and there was all this info about how your Zune software would still work, but that it wasn't available anymore. So, I'm a little confused on why it said that, and how it still works, but I'm very glad it does!

Hi Libby Glad you got Zune to work for you!! I have SO much trouble with my music on my iTunes. It had a hard time recognizng and importing Hayley's US Paradiso and the Hushabye CD's. i had to locate the album covers on my own! I use my iPod Touch only at work, when go outside to take my walks. Most of the time, the album pictures no longer match the song! The only good thng going for my iPod Touch is that I can dispay song lyrics if you paste them in.

Yeah, I was noticing that Itunes was not only not showing album artwork, it was separating songs when it seemed to identify another artist other than, Andrea Bocelli, say. I only have one of his albums, but it separated the duet with Celine Dion as a whole different album!
Unfortunately, Zune seems to be doing the same thing a bit. The album covers were a bit slow to load, but they came up eventually. But, since most of my current music is already on my player, and my player's arrangement hasn't changed, it doesn't matter that much. Plus, I can make it so I have it showing the song list alphabetically, rather than the artist or album list. I already know what albums each songs are on. I wonder if the newer music I put on could show up differently, but we'll see. I also thought the syncing might take a little longer than it used to, but I don't really mind. I'm usually doing other things on the computer while I have the Zune in, so it's no big deal.
So, for now, it looks like as long as my Zune holds up, and hopefully my computer as well, I should be good. It's lasted this long, so I imagine I'll still be able to use it for a long time still.
