Yulia is back singing after leaving her husband and she is managing herself now.
On Friday night I had the pleasure of being part of a 50 strong audience at the Orange Studios in Christchurch watching Yulia recording a live album.
With her in the first half was her regular guitarist and she also did some guitar playing as well. She played a few Russian songs including her own song from her debut album called Russia. She even created an Ukranium song. Plus she did some Edith Piaf songs and Leonard Cohen songs including Hallelujah.
In the second half she had a double bass and a trumpist in the band and they played some jazz songs she had written.
She sang 13 songs for the album plus an encore song The Prayer which highlighted the power she has in her voice.
It was great to see Yulia again and the lovely personality she has and that fantastic voice is stiIl there.
