It was about 10.30 by the time I got out of the theatre and round to the stage door. I saw several of the celebrities come out, some of whom were willing to stop for an autograph. There were rumours that some of the celebrities had already left through the main entrance.
About 11.15, a couple of choir members came out and told the handful of people still waiting that everyone was at a party in the bar. I decided to wait until 11.30. Just before that time, somebody received word that there was some activity at the main entrance so we all moved round there. I think most of the people coming out must have been invited guests, but there were a few celebrities including Russell Watson and Wayne Sleep, so I decided it might be worth waiting a little longer.
Through the glass doors, we could see the steps up from the bar, and another flight leading up to the higher levels of the theatre. Shortly before midnight, I saw Hayley come up from the bar, still wearing her performance dress. It looked like the official at the door was expecting her to leave right then and didn’t want her to go back to the other part of the theatre. She lingered in the entrance area for a couple of minutes until a few more people came up, and they were then permitted to go upstairs and presumably back to the dressing rooms. I waited until 12:20 when I needed to leave to catch the last tube. Hayley had not returned that way, but there was no guarantee that she had not left meanwhile through the stage door.
So there is your report, Comet. I said that I had the opportunity to wait, but there was no conversation and no photo. Maybe I should have been bold enough to tap on the door while Hayley was waiting inside, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Hayley’s photo from her dressing room was posted whilst I was on the tube back to Waterloo – she may have still been inside at that time.

Ahhh Thanks John, I think most of us have done the long stand at one venue or another, I would imagine you were well and truly cold by the time you left for home. I suppose Hayley would have been in no hurry as she lives in London. I do remember reflecting on the "what I should have dones" as I walked home from various concerts, sometimes even years later as you look back and realise nobody got pictures, sound or video, an event lost in the mists of human memory only.
Did you by any chance notice if there were any serious looking TV cameras in use during the performance, was there any TV station name on any of them.
Sometimes the cameras are there just to feed the big screens, or so they tell us and the event is not recorded, like at Cork City Hall, I find that a bit hard to believe myself.
Thanks for being there for the rest of us who would have liked to have been there, well done on getting the pictures.

I only saw one medium sized camera, but there might well have been more on the large shelf above and behind me. It was too far away for me to see any branding. The Facebook post which I copied this morning suggests that there will a DVD, but I haven't seen any clue as to when or how it might be available to purchase.

The wait was not entirely fruitless, as I managed to congratulate some of the performers and get my programme signed by them - just not the one that I really wanted.

Well done Richard on finding one,
I found myself wishing someone would enter from stage left and swat that fly with a kliccy ba.
Maybe he flew off course from Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

Yes, I agree, all that prancing about is very annoying and detracts from the performance in my opinion. Loved Hayley's performance.

Loved the video and Hayley. The dancer, not so much. He looked ridiculous the whole time. I almost feel badly for Hayley having to put up with that while singing!

Hi Paul I agree with you although you were too kind. Someone should have told him beforehand that the concert was a homage to Vera Lynn and not an audition for 'Britain's Got Talent'. Martin

Make sure to watch it via the link, rather than on this forum. I made that mistake, and was only able to see the dufus dancer (more on that below) most of the time, and not Hayley! I was wondering why on earth anyone would focus on him rather than her! But it turns out he didn't, the picture is truncated on the video on this forum (I wonder why?). I found I had to go back and listen to the song again... without watching it... because I realize the first time I was barely able to focus attention on how Hayley's performance went. I mean, of course, I heard she sounded great, but I was so caught up in not being able to see Hayley and the ludicrous dancing that it took away from enjoying her voice. Hi Paul I agree with you although you were too kind. Someone should have told him beforehand that the concert was a homage to Vera Lynn and not an audition for 'Britain's Got Talent'. Martin Hah! His movements were so stiff and robotic. And too fast for the tempo of the song. Stiff, robotic, way too fast... and absolutely the most ridiculous, ludicrous, LEWD, even, idiotic, nonsensical movements I could ever, I mean I would NEVER, think of for a song like this! I say lewd because near the beginning he seems to wave his hand over the... seagull, which I found a bit disgusting, not suitable to this type of music AT ALL. He was dancing like a dodo, not a bluebird!! Actually, I think even a dodo bird, if it still existed, might be better. Now, I enjoy watching dancing, but this was would not fly (pun intended!) on the So You Think You Can Dance show! Unfortunately, the talent show people are a little less strict, and have other criteria they go by besides quality dancing, so I wouldn't put it past them to put him through!

I've edited my previous post and embedded the direct link to the video. I wasn't impressed by the dancer either! Richard
