The following is on both Facebook and Twitter: Dame Vera turns 100, and has a concert "the star is set to celebrate the milestone with a charity concert showcasing some of the best of British talent. She promised viewers that the show, featuring comedian Alexander Armstrong and singers Blake and Hayley Westenra, would give a “tiny insight” into her near century-long career." www.roscommonherald.ie/2017/01/13/reaching-100-has-been-an-incredible-adventure-says-dame-vera-lynn/By Hayley Online (Hayley Westenra Fans) Edit by Richard: This concert is at the London Palladium on Saturday 18 March 2017, two days before Dame Vera Lynn's 100th Birthday.

Great find Jim. I was very interested in attending until I discovered that the cheapest tickets are priced at £184.50! For that price I, too, could also be out of the UK. Given the opportunity I'll watch it on tv. Martin

I won't be going at those prices either! Actually there are tickets available in the Upper Circle at £56.50, but it won't be a good view from up there. Richard

Ouch! I was tempted by the idea until I saw that price!

There was a single seat in the centre of the third row of the Upper Circle that seemed to be begging "Buy me now!". I couldn't resist There are still front row stalls seats available if anyone has the odd £234.50 to spare.

It's amazing that she will be 100 come March! I'm looking forward to see if Hayley will be there, and even if not it'll still be interesting to hear/read/listen to the event

The tribute concert is actually two days before Dame Vera Lynn's 100th Birthday, which is Monday 20 March 2017. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vera_LynnJim, I've added a note to your opening post because I couldn't fit the London Palladium into the thread title. Richard

Richard Yes Richard, Hayley is certainly going for the "high-end" of the market with those prices, rather like the Classical Reflection shows at country hotels. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, doing fewer shows but charging more otherwise ordinary folk will be priced out of attending concerts.

Well, Jeff, I remember the first time I heard Hayley, back in 2004 saying to my wife that I was glad we had seen Hayley while we could still afford to. I fully expected tickets for her concerts to fetch astronomical prices after a few years. It has taken a bit longer than I expected, but I'm not sure that will be so in the future. This is a charity fundraising concert, and very much a one off to salute a legendary artist, so I'm not that surprised at the high price of the tickets.

To clarify, Hayley will have had nothing to do with the price of tickets for this charity event. She is simply attending, and performing, as a current supporter of the Vera Lynn Children's Charity. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if Hayley was appearing for no fee whatsoever other than expenses perhaps.
The organisers will want to raise as much money as possible and they must be reasonably confident that Vera's reputation will sell tickets at these prices.

To defend Hannah and Naomi, the high price you refer to is for a three night break in a country hotel, including accommodation. So far I've seen them perform five times for a total ticket cost of £10, but I had to pay the train fares from London to Newbury, Peterborough and Brookwood. I wonder if and when this concert will be promoted on Hayley's official website. Watch this space: hayleywestenra.com/live/Richard
