Many thanks for your report John and I am not surprised that you were 'upgraded' seating wise. This is common practice if ticket sales do not meet expectations but I am suprised that the promoters pulled ticket sales so early. I assume you did not get the opportunity to wait for Hayley at the stage door after the concert? Martin ps The photo of Hayley in Paige's post is GORGEOUS

I managed to watch the poor man's version on BBC TV on Saturday night while the real thing was happening on stage at the Palladium in London.
There were many great words of wisdom by the many commentators on the programme that would or could be applied to a certain singer that we all know and love. I assume my first hearings of Vera would have been through our old valve radiogram during the sixties (Ehum. or earlier) the same radiogram that I played my first Morricone soundtrack of The Good the bad and the ugly on and even later the Pickwick version of Jesus Christ Superstar. I loved that old radiogram, even though I aspired to have a better stereogram the radiogram was all we had, I still have it, wrapped in a blanket and a curtain in the attic. I wouldn't dare plug it in now, the capacitors look a bit leaky and weepy.
Vera really was and is a dote, everything that is really good in a singer, the clean, clear diction, the pure distinctive voice. I loved that Dame Vera had a collection of memorabilia stashed away and let us all have a look at some of it.
I'm sure Dave or some of our other members will put up a link to the BBC Programme, well worth a watch at least once.
But of course I am waiting for more details about how our own Songbird did on Saturday night..
dum ti dum ti dum, only 71 years to go to Hayley's 100th birthday tribute... dum ti dum ti dum......

Thanks for the report and photos John. I too had to make do with watching the BBC tribute. Worth watching, and I think it is being repeated in a day or two.

dum ti dum ti dum, only 71 years to go to Hayley's 100th birthday tribute... dum ti dum ti dum...... 71! Her 30th birthday is less than a month to go, so... 100 - 30 = 70. A few weeks doesn't help her much.

Just tried Richard and your right! It would not let me watch it here in bonny young USA. On another note, thank you John for the review! Sounds like a special evening for everyone. <3 Hayley looked lovely and elegant as usual. Loving all the pictures & buzz around Hayley this last week. And she performed more than 1 song which I find to be a great honor for her. Twitter and all...now if only someone interviewed her in the press. xoxo
