Because Hayley tweeted about it yesterday, and someone replied saying he bought the whole album after checking him out, I decided Max Jury might actually be worth checking out. He is really good! He has a very unique, beautiful voice. It's not an earth-shattering voice, but that's what's unique. It's kind of a soft voice, but very pleasant, and the songs I listened to are good. I liked Home and Great American Novel best. The title Beg & Crawl for some reason made me imagine a horrendous heavy metal song. It was nothing of the sort, fortunately, and it's actually quite catchy, as was the song Numb. That song I discovered is on the soundtrack of the new movie, Me Before You (which looks like a sweet movie, though I'm afraid it might end in tragedy). And, then that had me discovering other good songs that are on the soundtrack. Unsteady by X Ambassadors and Photograph by Ed Sheerhan (which I've heard before) are now on my download list, as well. I think Numb is a very appropriate song, and Photograph by Ed Sheeran is too. I think another song from the soundtrack Not Today by Imagine Dragons is good too- my sister introduced me to that song, I wasn't keen at first but it grew on me, I'd recommend that one too. I really like the song Home- made me think of the Michael Buble song haha, but I think I actually prefer this one. I think that's probably my favourite song that I've heard by Max Jury, I don't think I've heard them all yet though- it's on my to-do list LOL. |

I listened to the beginning of Not Today, but it didn't sound very exciting. You know, compared to their other songs that I know, at least. And, as I mentioned, I'd heard Photograph before, I think just once, actually, and while I thought it was pretty good, for some reason, seeing it playing during the trailer made it appeal to me more, and now I like it.
The song Home sounds like a song that would really hit "home" with Hayley. She's "a long, long way" and she'll "be back someday". To her NZ home. I see how it would appeal to her.
I'll try to find a video of the movie with the song Numb. Anyway, the music video of Max shows too much cigarette smoking; he really needs to cut that out, not that it's my business! LOL

I couldn't find a movie video that would be suitable for use on this forum, but I did find the official video; apparently the other one I mentioned isn't actually the official video. Oh well, anyway, here it is: I'm really impressed with this kid's talent. Besides having a very good, unique voice, he's also obviously an exceptional songwriter and musician. Don't mind his bed-head look in the video. LOL I really like the 2 background singers, they are what make the song so catchy. Especially the lady with the curly hair. For some reason my eyes are drawn to her, she's just really pretty. |
