The good news is that the public have voted Trip Hazard back into the competition as a wildcard. This has delighted the Patron of the Royal Variety Charity which receives profits from the show. It's the final tonight and I just wonder if the public will want a dog act to win 2 years running ? At this stage in the proceedings I usually predict the Top 3. The fact that I have failed to get it right for the past ten years in no way diminishes my enthusiasm for trying ! So here goes : 1. Jasmine Elcock. 2. Beau Dermott. 3. Richard Jones. Richard Jones is a magician and also a serving soldier which always goes down well with the public. He's actually the favourite to win, maybe because an insider has tipped off the bookies about exactly how many troops have been ordered to vote for him ! I find a magicians a bit irritating because you never discover how the trick is done and you're always left feeling bothered and bewildered. It's like reading a whodunnit and not finding out who did ! Essentially all magicians are conmen. I've seen a number of great young singers over the years and nomatter how good you think they are or how much you want them to win, there always seems to be someone else who comes along and beats them ! The truth I suppose is that it doesn't matter. It's the publicity that counts. There is also a gospel choir although arguably a better choir was eliminated last Thursday (video in my "Ones that got away" thread). There is also a Sinatra singer but then there usually is ! For a full list of finalists see www.itv.com/britainsgottalent/live-shows/meet-your-britains-got-talent-2016-grand-finalistsWhoever wins I'm sure Her Majesty will endure enjoy seeing them perform on The Royal Variety Show. You can see the final live tonight on ITV1 at 7.30pm but just remember, that's two and a half hours of your life you won't be getting back !

I thought you meant Ashleigh, of Ashleigh & Pudsey fame, not the Queen. LOL What's wrong with dog acts?? And how come nobody told me a dog act won last year??

Hello Libby! I don't really follow Britain's Got Talent, so I wasn't aware that a dog act won last year. I've found the winning performance on YouTube, and it's certainly an act with a difference. You'll notice the second dog Skippy has a leg missing, but don't let it spoil your enjoyment. And here's this year's dog act: Richard

Here's the winning performance from this year's final: I replaced the second video in my previous post because it had been blocked. Richard

Thanks for that Richard. Sorry for not updating this thread earlier but I was busy yesterday. (Well, busy as in it was a nice day and my bungalow is within walking distance of the beach !). Just to tie things up: Trip Hazard were 7th, Beau Dermott was 5th (and sang her "Gravity" song again) and Jasmine Elcock was 4th. She gave a performance which Amanda described as "beautifully effortless" and for once I agreed with Simon Cowell when he told her "Your smile does everything !" I never learn, do I ? I should have realised after 10 years that the golden rule of this show is that class acts never win ! However, it turns out the winner is a fraud ! It seems he pinched his semi-final trick from one done by a magician on "America's Got Talent!" www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/britains-talent-richard-jones-exposed-8052804Pah ! I don't know if a lawsuit from the USA will ensue but the Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces is furious ! He should be disqualified, hand back his cheque and his votes distributed among the other finalists. Now all I have to do is find a reason to disqualify the ones who came second and third ! Told you they were conmen ! Never trust a magician ! P.S. I wouldn't trust Simon Cowell if he told me the time of day !!

LOL Jeff. This has become rather amusing reading. I agree, the guy should have his prize taken away, and the 2nd place winner should win, instead (it's only fair). I never liked Collin's Key on AGT, by the way, though some people were mad he didn't win. I just find that sort of "magic" dull. I'm not a big magic fan to begin with, because I'm always wanting to know how they do things, and I never get to find out. I'm the sort of person who always tries to figure out why things happen the way they do, and when I see magic tricks, then I just get frustrated. LOL I'm not that interested in anything other than the dogs, though I did like Jasmine's performance, and preferred her over all the other singers. I think the Queen and I must be kindred spirits in that respect. LOL We also both really like Corgis, though my passion for them has only recently emerged. I loved those dog acts! I watched all of Jules & Matisse's performances on the show, and that one was definitely my favorite. I also thought Trip Hazard was adorable, too. I think both of them are better than Ashleigh & Pudsey, as far as material, though especially Matisse. Pudsey was just so cute, I didn't ever want to stop watching him. He still wins the cute award. LOL

LOL Yes Libby. I sometimes feel as if some people are too good to win if that doesn't sound silly. If the public think someone has "got it made" already (and Jasmine clearly has) then they will support the "underdog", if you can call a man in the Household Cavalry on a good salary and pension an underdog ! I remember when Susan Boyle was beaten in the final I asked some teenagers afterwards why they didn't vote for her and they told me : "We knew she'd be a star anyway." Fair point I suppose.

Can I just reassure our American members and other viewers of America's Got Talent that the issue of Lance Corporal Jones' "theft of intellectual property" has now been resolved to my complete satisfaction: So that just about wraps up BGT for another year (Richard breathes a sigh of relief ! ) so I'll leave the last word to teenage comedian Jack Carroll. Fair play to the lad for having the guts to say this to Cowell's face !

AGT just started today, and I didn't find Simon to be too unpleasant, though some people didn't like his minor critique for one singing group. I think it's good for them to hear that they might not be perfect, because if they're not, they need to know. There's usually some room to improve.
There was a 13-year-old girl who sang Nessun Dorma, and I did not enjoy it. She sounded as though she was trained in opera, but her sound was a little cringeworthy, when you have Sarah Brightman's voice in your brain to compare it to. And compared to Sarah, it was a bit dreadful. However, the judges and audience were enthralled, and she got the Golden buzzer. They don't know better. LOL I don't think she'll last till the very end, anyway. The girl last year was much better.
