Hi, Hayley has been very well-received in Taiwan. Let's hope that she will favor the Taiwanese with something extra-special in December that will allow us to have some idea of what she has been up to musically during this long period of no news. BobS I quite agree Bob, Hayley events seem to be more than "Just Entertainment" over there, as if it is part of a humanist movement or something, the banners in the background and the format or function of some of the events seem to indicate it is part of something bigger. Can't find any of the photos or threads I am referring to. We are the World type things. Maybe you have a better memory than me Bob, point us in the right direction if you will. |

Hi Paul, Your point about Hayley's relation with Taiwan is well-taken. I believe that, early on, it was quite applicable to Japan, but less so, nowadays, since her appearance at the opening of The World Games in 2009. In particular, her singing in Mandarin with Shin turned the tide. Offhand, I can't think of any good video applicable to your point. One, very remotely connected, which I have in my bookmarks, comes to mind, and is given below (first 9 minutes only). Not many views, unfortunately. Sorry that I can't do better. Thanks Bob for taking the time to investigate..
as you can see by the comments on the YouTube video I have been at that one before 3 years ago.
I watched it again, lovely lighthearted banter, a few frames of Tim Evans just before four minutes.
so my Chinese phrase for the day is phonetically "washy honey".
The other events I was referring to were almost like sixties type flower power love in type things with huge banners in the background with "Hayley Love" or something similar on them.

I think the "love" belongs with Amailia (amor?)

To be fair it is always a problem with translation. I remember may years ago at work trying to get to grips a complex French software package, the manuals for which had been translated by a translation service with no technical knowledge. The result was it was extremely difficult to understand, in places total gibberish. In the end I had to ask for the original French language manuals, which I found much easier to work with. On another occasion when I was producing estimates for a tender for a contract in Sweden, my company had expensively had the specification documents translated into English, only for me to ask for the original Swedish versions. My bosses had not realised that I had lived and worked in Sweden for 3 years, and had learned to speak the language fluently, and whats more knew most of the technical terms which were likely to be mistranslated. So we shouldn't be too hard on Google, translate is often useful.
I do draw the line at Chinese though.....
