Hi chungchungxavier, Sorry I haven't got around to saying "Hello" and "Welcome to the Forum" yet! Well I have now... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifEnjoy meeting some truly loyal Hayley fans here! You say you donated "Hayley Westenra" CD to charity? How many copies? Surely you haven't parted with the only copy you had? Do you want each member of the Forum to send you a copy to make up for the one you donated? Next you'll tell us you've donated all of those too ... Andrew

Nothing like resurrecting an old thread from the dead....
I am not certain when I got Hayley Westenra. I do know that I was downsized after 9-11 and I had already introduced my co-workers to her - I would guess for this and other reasons that it was around June of 2001 give or take a month or so
I was particularly struck by three songs - Mists of Islay, I Dreamed a Dream and Love Changes Everything. A 13 year old has absolutely no business being able to sing like that....

Hello, I have this album...all I can say is....WOW!!! I am speechless, I have to listen to it everyday. And that bonus track of "Amazing Grace"....I tell you Hayley puts the word amazing in that song...It is by far the BEST version I have ever heard, very emotional. As of today I think amazon.uk has 1 copy left.... I also have "My Gift to You"....Hayley is unbeatable.... I wish I heard about her before Nov 2006...I am in the USA, what can I say. Best Regards, Howard

I have had this album for nearly forever. Between it and "My Gift to You" it convinced me that Hayley was real, talented and worth following. I especially like "The Mists of Isley", in fact I even did research into where Isley was and what all of that means". I also like "Love Changes Everything."
Don't get up here very often, but something said it was time to come up and chat a bit. The Yahoo group isn't very active, so it was time for a Hayley fix. Hope all of you are well, and hoping that Hayley comes to your town in 2008. I was hoping to see her last Summer but Meav' came to Kansas City instead of Hayley. I'm sure there will be another time...soon!
God Bless You All.

I have been to Islay a number of times and I can tell you it is pronounced "Isla". So Hayley gets it wrong, but it is a common mistake. And it doesn't spoil the song for me - every time I hear Hayley sing it it reminds me of that beautiful and unspoiled place. It also produces some of the finest single malt whisky on the planet! Hi Martin The correct pronunciation came up at one of Hayley's concerts - I think it was Canterbury - when Hayley told us she had received a letter telling her the correct pronunciation was 'Eye-la'. It would be interesting to know how the writer of the lyrics, Gavin Creed, intended it to be pronounced. I don't think I have ever heard it sung as anything but 'Islay' - any other pronunciation would sound wrong in my mind. Best wishes Grant PS: confirmation as to the correct pronunciation can be found HERE

ANYONE. I cannot figure out where this album sits in the list of things , going through the albums thread it shows a totally different track listing to the one I now have. Rob gave me this CD last weekend, He bought every Hayley CD in the shop but the track listing is. 1. Pokarekare Ana 2. Beat of your Heart 3. Deli'Amore Non Si Sa 4. river of Dreams 5. Quanta Qualia 6. Never say goodbye 7. Dark Waltz 8. May it be 9. Prayer 10. Ave Maria 11. Amazing Grace 12. Benedictus 13. Bridal ballad 14, In Trutina 15. Hine E Hine And it says MADE in Australia. So in a nut shell, how many Cd's with just the title HAYLEY WESTENRA are there. Rob gave me 5 Hayley Cd's,(all different) wow my collection has just gone crazy . I'm so excited. He got his money back tho, he took home 5 gold nuggets after I taught him how to pan for gold in our creek, they total about 15, 000 dollars so he is wrapped i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifmuch love Tracy

Hi Tracy,
Where on earth did you get that? It looks like a pirate job to me. The album Hayley Westenra was made when Hayley was 13 years old. I can see no trace of it in the album that you have.
There are several tracks from Pure in that listing of yours, not made till Hayley was 15 and living in England. And "Quanta Qualia", "May it Be" and "Del Amore" are from Odyssey, made when Hayley was 17!
Actually, I don't think there is a single track from the original "Hayley Westenra" album. Or "My Gift to You" It is just stuff taken from Pure and Odyssey.
The photo, from memory, is from "My Gift To You" (my copy is in the car, after all it is Christmas), made when she was 13.
My guess is it is a pirate job. I suspect even Grant. with his vast collection of Hayley's CDs, doesn't have that one.

Hi Tracy, Contrary to what Martin D has said, you have a perfectly legitimate Australian compilation which was released in about 2006. It is a collection of songs from Pure and Odyssey. I have exactly the same album here which Hayley signed for me and wasn't surprised that I had it. It has nothing to do with the earlier release in NZ of the same name. The photo, which Martin seems to think is from MGTY is actually from the Odyssey photoshoot. Enjoy Roger

Hi Roger,
Nice to know you are still around. Best wishes for a great Christmas. And I defer to your superior knowledge. Well, I know I have seen that photo somewhere, and MGTY is the only one I don't have to hand (apart from Winter Magic JP edition, forget it).
So Tracy,
don't listen to me, listen to Roger. You may not realise it, since it was before your time, but Roger used to be the owner of HWI, and is one of the few members here who has known Hayley almost since she came to the UK. We all owe him big time for running this wonderful site and keepimg it going for several years. He was with Hayley, in her dressing room even, on the nght back in 2004 when I first heard Hayley sing and was totally blown away. That was a night I will never forget, one of the greatest of my life, perhaps only surpassed by the first Buxton concert, where I first got to meet Hayley.
