Hello everyone, Following some adjustments we made yesterday, I can now announce something that I think many of you will see as an improvement over the previous Proboards version: automatic image resizing. This means that when viewing images wider than the forum window or screen width, they will be automatically shrunk to fit. Right down to thumbnail size if necessary! Hopefully it will work correctly in all browsers and tablets but if not, please post here to let us know. Automatic image resizing has also allowed us to raise the previous limits on image width from 800 pixels to 1200 pixels, and on image file size from 100KB to about 200KB. This will allow for example much clearer text scans to be posted in future and there should no longer be any need to insert resizing tags, which will fix the image size so if you do, it's best not to exceed 800 pixels for this. Clickable links to larger versions of posted images shouldn't be needed very often either, as you can usually (in a decent browser!) right-click to see the larger version of any auto-downsized images. But enough of all that, here's an example, which is timely at the moment. It's a 1200 x 1649 pixel scan of 178KB file size from Woman's Day a couple of years months ago, and it should resize to always show the full image width at whatever size is needed (four columns). Right-click and choose "View Image" etc. or "Open Link In New Tab/Window" to see the original (in most browsers, maybe not IE). Screens above about 1400 pixels wide should show it at full size in the forum, unless working in a smaller window. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave The image looks fantastic, even on this ipad! I know that you and Richard have been fine-tuning this improved image display feature for this forum, so well done

Hello folks! A little tip, or the voice of experience! If you right click and select 'View Image', be careful to hit the 'Back' button on your browser to return to the thread, not the red cross, because the larger image appears in the same window. Richard

Hello folks! I've just discovered that hyperlink tags no longer make pic.twitter links clickable, but you can add https:// to the link instead. I've done a crafty trick to add this automatically, so the old links now work again and future links should all be clickable too. Richard

Umm, Dave... that article was from a few months ago! Oops, did I say years? I should probably correct that! Woman's Day November 25th 2013 in fact, thanks to Ross on the 17th. Cheers, Dave

I'm not too happy with the new format. To complex. Maybe it's just hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Ok, something's up with the quoting feature. IDK what, but it makes posts rather confusing to read sometimes... -Taylor Yeah, I think it's because I was quoting you both at once. I didn't do anything different, so I don't think it's my fault.

Hello folks! I've sorted out the quotes and removed the unwanted [/img] tags. The problem appears to be caused by the extra smilies throwing up spurious image tags when first posted, but they never do that for me. You should only see the short codes in the BBCode screen, with no image tags, like this: :EEjdKsU: and  Please note I removed half of the colons to disable those codes, so here are the smilies: Now click on 'Quote' to see how it should look. I suspect it may be a browser problem. When posting extra smilies, if you see something like {img} {/img} in the BBCode screen (with square brackets), just remove the image tags. If you miss any, I'll remove them anyway. Richard
