Hi all, Whew! I think that is everything is complete. Moving / copying everything from the test forum to this forum was quite a job! Hi Joe, Many thanks for all your hard work in preparing for and implementing these changes and very well done - it was far from being the fully automatic switchover that Proboards would have had us believe and I know you've spent many hours on preparing for and driving the changes. Most of the inevitable problems seem to be working themselves out now, though there are still a few other things we need to look at and I'm sure there will be other queries as more members log on for the first time. Just to say that whatever the short-term problems are, there are some definite improvements that members will notice over the next few days, one of which will be a substantial increase in photo dimensions and file sizes that we will allow to be posted. So watch this space, everyone! Cheers, Dave

I managed to figure out where things were okay (partly by reading Joe's advice to others). The only thing I don't care for so much is how wide and spread out everything is. The last post in a sub-board is way off to the side, and it doesn't stand out as well without the white background, so it's harder to see. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, though. But maybe if the font was just darker or bolder, or something. Also, I'm not liking the bright teal blue (whatever color you want to call it) background in the text. White is so much easier on the eyes. Oh, and any of you who don't have an avatar, please make one, because the no avatar image is rather disturbing. It looks like a baby from outerspace. Very disturbing. LOL Oh wait, now another thing. When you see the last post made in a sub-board on the front page, when you click on it, it will only go to the first page of that thread. You have to click the page button to get to the last post. Very, very annoying. I was already annoyed before that it would never, ever, default to the last post by itself, you always had to scroll down yourself to get to it. At least the offical forum has that going for it.

I've widened the forum to 99% so our sig banners are no longer cut. However on my ipad / Safari browser the right edge is slightly cut. If I widened out to 100% the forum sides are cut on Safari browsers.

Hi Libby, having a white box in which we write our posts is something I will look into. Hey, it's there for the quick reply box, why not that one? I will look into that nasty default avatar! I created a default avatar I could not replicate what you said about the last post in a sub board. when I clicked on it on the front page, I always got that last post. I'll check it out though.

Hi Joe,
Comment/Question: The changeover is looking good. Thanks for the job well done, and all the pre-advice. With such a major undertaking now under your belt, I have a low priority comment/question for you. I miss seeing where the posters are from, particularly the infrequent posters. Even the frequent UK posters are from so many towns, it is difficult to remember them all (not that it is all that important, and not that everyone shows them). The question is, why did you believe it necessary to do away with that feature? I realize that I can always log on and go to a profile for the information, but I just like seeing it on the posts. Now, how is that for a trivial question/comment?!

The location feature was eliminated by ProBoards in this new software version. As you said, clicking on the member's name will bring up his/her location. Best wishes, Joe

Hi all, Thanks to ProBoards support, the background in which we type these posts is now a lighter color. (I tried a plain white- was too bright)

Well, now that I've had a bit of time to look through things, I can more properly pass judgement on the new look. I like the new mobile site; it makes things a lot easier for me. However, I find all the new things under "Profile" seem a bit unnecessary, and are a bit confusing. I know of course this is no one's fault or decision, I'll probably just avoid it at all costs. And I still miss my smiley. But no big. I would like to thank all the admins, especially Joe and Dave, for helping this whole thing go off without a hitch. Yall are pretty awesome, y'know. -Taylor

It's my understanding that, in this new version, ProBoards wanted to bring the members together, socially, with features such as "following", huge customizable avatars, and being notified if a member has been tagged, quoted, etc. It's all too much!! We disabled the 'like' a post feature and the chat room. Some things may still require minor adjusting, such as some colors and the forum width. The width was tricky...wide enough to allow the full signature images (saving members from having to edit them), and yet narrow enough to be correctly viewed on mobile devices. Thanks again; and I hope that your continued and valuable time on the forum is an enjoyable time

Had a hard time getting to recent posts. Hi Larry, I apologize for any trouble...ProBoards took away the "view the last 50 posts" that was at the bottom of all their forums. May I suggest you click on "recent posts" found in the info center, above the users online list.

Hello Taylor! Your old signature smiley has been removed by ProBoards, but I can do a little trick to change it to a reasonable alternative in your older posts and elsewhere where it was used. Edit: Voila! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRichard

Hi Dave & Joe It's looking good so your hard work has paid off. Well done!
Two minor points still seen relating to Recent Posts: 1) The pagination is only at the top. Can it also be shown at the bottom otherwise to go to the next page you have to scroll back up to the top?
2) I am still not seeing the reply button on listed posts.
Cheers Martin
Ps I am using an iPad but that shouldn't make any difference.

The reply button is found at the bottom of the last post at the top of the quick reply box and also at the top of the last page of posts. I have made the reply buttons a yellower color to be better visable. I'm here using an ipad as well...may I ask which I pad you are using?
