Actually I like the song, kind of catchy Would have been better with just the guys, I have no idea why Hayley's singing like that there. My dad was surprised when I told it was Hayley, that he asked me twice and then asked if it was when she was really young. I just hope the 2014 album is nothing like this.

I have no problem with the way Hayley is singing, just with the fact that her part is in German! Why on earth have a Christmas song in the UK aiming to sell as many as possible, with a big chunk of it in a foreign language that most people won't understand? Very strange. Dave

I like the song, overall; Hayley sounded great to me, though I must admit that the whole random German verse does throw me off a bit. But, beyond that, I think it's all good. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Is there any particular reason Hayley's verse is in German? Or did they just decide it would be a cool quirky idea?

The original 1974 had a german chorus www.youtube.com/watch?v=OREM7kXDycc. I don't see why it's so surprising that there was a german portion in this version as well Hope that answers why there's a German portion in the song, the first place.

Thanks Simba!
But the British record buying public, the intended audience, won't know that, so they'll be as baffled as most of us are!
Fortunately, the first two verses are in English, just not by Hayley.
Cheers, Dave

Finally got round to listening to this with my new over- ear hearing aids...and wow it's nice to be in the land of the hearing again lol . I liked the song, I wasn't sure about it at first but after a few listens it has grown on me. My neighbours (who incidentally are German- they said Hayley's pronunciation was faultless, always nice to hear ) like it too - now I finally have something to give them for Christmas . It would have been nice if she had sung in English too though . It's nice to have a new Christmas song to listen to. Singen Sing
