Hi Bob I don't think it is a Salvation Army hat and the badge on the front is in clear. Perhaps fashion guru Jillian will be able to help further. Cheers Martin Hi Martin, I had been trying to compare it to female SA hats that I could find, but its brim was different, flatter. Whatever the unclear badge on the front is, I had thought it might be the top of a large "S". Yes, I guess that one is down Jillian's alley. It sure is a beauty on Hayley, though. Thanks, BobS

True! On Hayley's Facebook, under the picture of her and Terry Wogan, there are quite a few favorable comments about the picture, some mentioning the hat in particular. Only one unfavorable comment about the hat from a woman saying that she should have removed it as it is not becoming to Hayley. It will be interesting to see how the hat plays out with time. BobS

I'm guessing the hat was a one-time thing. More likely something to do with the occasion than a fashion statement. But then, what do I know?

Hello folks! One of the tweets mentioned Hayley's German. I'm wondering if it's a German hat to go with the song, something like one of these: www.deutscheshaus.cc/html/german_hats.htmlAnother interesting tweet from Hellen Bach: Richard

Hi Richard, Libby, Taylor - I believe that you are onto something with the German angle regarding the hat. I also notice the last comment under the Terry Wogan and Hayley picture on Hayley's Facebook, by Soraya Soraya (in Russian), reads, "I didn't think I could listen to German music, it turns out I can when Helena sings." (no question about her meaning Hayley) BobS
