Hi Bob I don't think it is a Salvation Army hat and the badge on the front is in clear. Perhaps fashion guru Jillian will be able to help further.  Cheers Martin Hi Martin, I had been trying to compare it to female SA hats that I could find, but its brim was different, flatter. Whatever the unclear badge on the front is, I had thought it might be the top of a large "S". Yes, I guess that one is down Jillian's alley. It sure is a beauty on Hayley, though. Thanks, BobS |

True! On Hayley's Facebook, under the picture of her and Terry Wogan, there are quite a few favorable comments about the picture, some mentioning the hat in particular. Only one unfavorable comment about the hat from a woman saying that she should have removed it as it is not becoming to Hayley. It will be interesting to see how the hat plays out with time. BobS |

I believe that you are onto something with the German angle regarding the hat. I also notice the last comment under the Terry Wogan and Hayley picture on Hayley's Facebook, by Soraya Soraya (in Russian), reads, "I didn't think I could listen to German music, it turns out I can when Helena sings." (no question about her meaning Hayley)
