That's 20 songs, and a set list a lot like the Union Chapel. I expect there were encores too, but we'll have to wait until we see the reports to know what they were.

I really like that new blue dress! It's very sparkly and pretty! In fact, I think it looks like the perfect dress to wear if she ever were to sing Dark Waltz again. But I suppose she probably won't. Never mind, I can just imagine her wearing it when I listen to the song. Hi everyone, I had the pleasure of seeing Hayley's concert tonight. However, due to the strict enforcement of prohibition over photography in the concert, I only managed to do a few clandestine snapshots with my phone camera Regards, Tin Many thanks Tin for your photos, they are very good and indeed, I've taken the liberty of adding a couple of them to our website page, which is getting quite long now! I've also added a few other things from this thread, including Frank Lin's Youtube video of Over The Rainbow (making two of his, now). I remember that I watched Hayley performed in one of our "Top of the pop" TV shows, where she did amazingly but did not get the credit and respect that she deserved.
What a lovely evening we have had in Hong Kong! It was amazing grace. Amazing performance. Perfect voice.

Hi Tin,
Yes, it is annoying that they keep sending the security guards to tell people not to take photos during the concerts. I took a few but they are all out of the focus.
This is my first time to hear Hayley's singing in concert and I think her voice and her face were both angelic yesterday. Thank you for helping me to have the programme signed. The queue was very very long already when I reached there.
I think Hayley is very popular in Hong Kong too, judging by the number of people who went to the concert and the queue for signing afterwards.

Hi everyone, I'm back from Hayley's second concert here. I'd say I loved today's show more than last night's because it seemed the acoustics were better tuned today. Hey Tin , Raymond. Thanks for the pics. The camera police / guards were certainly out in force last night so I was not able to take any pictures either. As it was getting late for my son (well passed his bedtime) and the queue was huge as you had already mentioned, we did not stay for long and left after we had caught a glimpse of Hayley. I found the reactions from the staff quite amusing when someone handed his guitar to Hayley for signature, as I didn't think they were half expecting it (or Hayley for that matter) . I do hope that the staff can ease up a little for tonight's concert.
I'm not sure whether it was a sound test or mixed up, but I thought I heard Hayley sang the first line of 'Prayer' even before the orchestra came on stage? Did anyone notice?
I'm being ultra-critical here but I thought it did take a few songs for Hayley to fully warmed up. But by the second half (after the intermission), she was in full flow. Highlights for me were Pokarekare, Close to you, The Moon Represent My Heart, La Califfa, Bridge Over Troubled Water... The choir and orchestra was great as well though I was expecting a bigger orchestra than the one last night. At the end she did 3 (or 4?) encores ; Sonny (without taking her heels off!), a Christmas song of which cannot recall the name??!!, Never Saw Blue. She initially was going to just do one of the last 2 by asking for a vote of hands but decided at the end to do both after almost everyone raised their hands for the first one. I guess she knew we were going to raise our hands for both anyway....
What really impressed me most was the way she flipped effortlessly through different styles and still sounds amazing. Brilliant!

I managed to catch a glimpse of the pieces of papers affixed on the floor of the stage during the intermission. It was written there that the encore songs were Sonny, Never Saw Blue and that Christmas song (whatever its name was). Hayley probably asked for a vote to add to her interaction with the audience  Overall, I'd say the repertoire was carefully chosen to accommodate the ordinary listener's taste. It was a mix of all kinds of songs, but generally more pop than classical. I was extremely happy that Hayley performed my favourite pieces live: Wuthering Heights, My Heart Belongs to You and Never Saw Blue. Today she did take her heels off when she played the piano in Sonny. We all laughed when she did that. I guess we were all gladly overwhelmed by Hayley's mischievous expression when she did that  And man I gotta say her Mandarin pronunciation was better than mine. Tin |

Again I used my phone's camera to take a few snapshots: Regards, Tin Congratulations Tin, It would seem from your photos that you were within about 3 to 4 metres of Hayley during this concert, well done, there is something very special about being that close to a performer during a concert. I have been that lucky on a few occasions. You must have been quite mesmerised and enchanted by the whole experience. You will be on quite a high for the next few days. (Cloud 9) I am delighted to see that Hayley's fans in Hong Kong are so much younger than the "One foot in the graver's" like myself and many of her fans here in the UK and Ireland. Thanks for the photos and for keeping us informed of Hayley's progress in Hong Kong. |
