You know Simba, I was just thinking "Top of the World" would be nice for Hayley before I read your post. Great minds think alike. I managed to find a live video too! www.youtube.com/watch?v=91PpfWU-rmAMartin D

Well, I know The Carpenters music very well, they are one of my wife's favourite artists. We even played their greatest hits album to her as she lay in bed yesterday (Yesterday Once More). They had a lot of hits, so I'm surprised you don't know them better Libby. But it is possible to miss these things. Martin D It's time to stop being surprised. I don't know much of anything from back then besides the "Oldies" which was mostly Beach Boys, Beatles, and others I cannot name, certainly nothing remotely pretty-sounding. I grew up in the '90's. How many times do I have to explain that to everyone? *sigh* It doesn't mean I live under a rock, for goodness' sake. I'm too annoyed to buy an album with songs I've never heard right now, and that sounds expensive. I guess I should just stop saying whether I've heard of music or not. All the shock and surprise makes it seem like there's something wrong with me or something, when my only fault is being young...ish. Can't you at least give me credit for having heard of the Carpenters'?

I agree with Libby, it happened way too many times, even after her saying it out loud XD But I think they just want to suggest you to listen to these old songs as they find it quite amazing (many people including I do) in thoughts that you'd like it too. Except it comes with a shock of you not knowing it before XD Which is quite funny now that I look back. And Martin Yes! Wonderful live version, love how effortless she makes it sound I think last few posts including this should be moved to a relevant "Carpenters" thread, as it's gaining interest and no more about Hayley's 2014 album XD.

Well, I'm willing to try a few songs, on youtube maybe, but not buy a whole album. It would be better to check something out from the library first, rather than spend a fortune already. I was forced to do that with Hayley's Odyssey because I was forced to wait till Christmas to get the albums for real. Yes, I made my dad buy 2 versions! LOL It was his fault I got into Hayley, anyway! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

And my sister, who is a "sort-of" Hayley fan, bought her own copy of Celtic Treasure, but it was through a discount CD store that she was using at the time. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif All my CDs came from Amazon or CD Japan, up until Winter Magic. That's when I started buying them from Barnes & Noble. They're a better store, anyway, imo.

Yeah, if I had the funds, I'd probably buy from B&N and CDJapan. However, Amazon's second party sellers or eBay sellers often have lower prices that sometimes fit into budget. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Um, I really hope you don't buy her Japanese CDs from Amazon, because the starting prices are outrageous! Yeah, they're imports, but that's the whole point of buying directly from Japan. It's not an import that way.
So, the Hushabye CD is around $50 at Amazon. I can only imagine how much it would be with shipping and tax (well they charge me tax). Guess how much I paid for my CD from CD Japan, plus shipping. Only just over $34, plus a foreign transaction fee right after it (it shows up separately on my credit card account). Or wait, that might've been on my Mario CDs that I just bought from Greece, which WERE through Amazon. I'm confusing myself now. LOL

Now that it is 2014, I wonder if we will get an album this year?
Has anyone heard anything about what Katherine Jenkins is up to? Now that Katherine has re-joined Decca, I imagine that they will not want to release Hayley and Katherine around the same time.
Hayley's 2014 schedule is 28 March 2014 - Dublin and then 14 -17 April in Japan. So at the moment it seems like there are gaps for time in the studio. There's been talk about Hayley doing more tours this year -- but I imagine that she'll want to get some new material together to perform sooner or later.

Haven't we thought before that she may already have some material waiting to be showcased, but she just hasn't had the right opportunity to do so in 7 years? Oh, I'm missing the Treasure days again. And yet, the traditional songs on that album are no longer satisfying. I'm ready for more original songs from Hayley instead.

Hi Libby,
I definitely think the ideas and the material is probably there already (goodness me, it would have to be after all these years). It may need some more development with arrangements etc. And then I guess it is up to Decca when they will schedule the release. No clues so far from Hayley -- only that she'll be back in the UK at the end of January.
Cheers, Jillian

Do what, I wonder? 2014 itself... or are there special plans for 2014? Like hopefully getting started for real on her next album? I'm sure Hayley will be keen to get back into the studio. Her last album was recorded in the summer of 2010, which is a almost 3 and half years ago. I bet Hayley can't wait to get back to it. I''m sure there's a lot of material that Hayley has planned which is waiting to see the light of day at last. Besides, I'm not sure what else could be scheduled for this year. Hayley's touring calendar is fairly empty -- and there's probably a limit to how much touring she could keep doing on the old material. Cheers, Jillian
