I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, Martin. We played Hayley at my own mother's funeral. Her songs bring such comfort in times of loss.

Thanks for you nice messages guys. Mum was 97, so she had a good long life. She died suddenly though, having been taken into hospital with a chest infection, and it still comes as a shock.

Dear Martin D,
I am heartily sorry to learn of your mother's passing.
I hope Hayley's voice brings healing today.
"Bridge Over Troubled Waters" is a beautiful song and deserves a place in Hayley's upciming album.

Well I know this is off topic, but the funeral service was beautiful. The music seemed to really fit the occasion, and three of the four pieces used have Hayley connections. As well as BOTW at the end, we had Karl Jenkins' Benedictus at the start, but the choral version with the lovely cello solo, not Hayley's, cut off at the point of the big "explosion". Then we sang Amazing Grace as one of the hymns. The music was perfect for the occasion. Mum was never a great music fan, although she played the piano in her youth.
The other hymn was "All things bright and beautiful".
Thanks again for your kind wishes guys.

Greetings, folks! Sorry to hear of your lose, Martin. I will pray for you. And, in reading through the thread, I noted a question that you asked, and yet no one answered: On the other hand, I always love to hear Hayley sing unaccompanied. Here is a question for you. Which album has Hayley's only completely a capella recording? And which song? Martin D That would be, "Whispering Hope", on the album "Treasure". I knew the song immediately, I just had to double check if it was Odyssey or Treasure that it was on. I made special note of the song because of the completely a capella arrangement of it, mainly because I have not found scriptural authority for using instruments in worship in my studies of the Bible. Since it's a hymn, I especially appreciate the a capella rendition (Though, admittedly, it's not nearly my favorite arrangement of the song.). In general, I just really love a well arranged a capella song, hymn or not. I'll see about writing a more on-topic post tomorrow. For now, it is past time for me to get ready for bed. Anthony

Thank you for you prayers and sympathy Antony.
Yes, you are correct, Whispering Hope on Treasure/Celtic Treasure.

Hi, Richard has posted 3/27 on the HW Twitter a/c thread ....."Hayley is almost certainly collaborating with them (Alberta Cross) in some way, and I am sure all will be revealed eventually." What does anyone think, any chance of Hayley singing a song composed by Alberta Cross, and backed by them, on her new album? BobS

Possible. I would think it would be more than just backing; she could get any instrument player hired by Decca to play a guitar backing if that's all she wanted. He probably helped with some writing/composing, and maybe will play for the album, too. But don't worry about how it's going to sound, Hayley's not going to have a noisy song/album that'll upset her largest fan-base. I personally am most looking forward to hearing her work with Pam Sheyne and Stephan Moccio. His songs for Mario and Josh are just beautiful. Pam's song was lovely but slow, but I'm sure their new song(s) will be great, too.

It seems by common consent that Hayley's next album will be a self-composed pop/folk album. Given that it was her classical-crossover style which first drew me to her in the first place all those years ago it may be that I won't enjoy it as much as her other work but we'll just have to see. I was shocked to realise the other day that it's been FIVE LONG YEARS since her last serious work, "Paradiso". (I'm sorry but I don't consider the baby album as a serious work). All artists need to develop their individual style but how far Hayley departs from her earlier material is an interesting point. I come at this from a classical standpoint (as a violinist who played Mozart serenades back in the day) and it would be interesting to speculate how many people would have come to Hayley if "Pure" had been a pop/folk album ? I don't think I would have done simply because I wouldn't have heard it since I no longer listen to pop stations. The first time I heard "Pure" was on Classic FM. If the rumours are true as to the album's content then Hayley's team have to come to terms with the fact that her album will have to compete with other pop albums for airplay on radio stations that us older folks may not listen to as a matter of course but then she may decide to aim at a younger audience. Then again, classical-crossover is my preferred genre and over the last five years I have been entertained/distracted by CC offerings from other singers which is why I am hoping Hayley's next album won't be a step too far !

Something tells me that THIS " www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1LYz8C7Mx0" is exactly what the sound of the new album is going to be. I could literally picture Hayley doing this. Acoustic rock? But whatever it is, I really don't hope for an album with one particular genre, but that might most likely be it too, because if she's going to take a new direction, she'd might want to slap it on, really establish it, so people know for certain that this is the new Hayley. Same sentiments Jeff, but we might very well be thoroughly prepared for the extreme too As far as I am concerned, I don't mind any genre as long as you can display talent, and it comes with good singing. Now for Chloe, she's extremely versatile, and when she sings these pop songs or other genres, she does it really well, I've recently started following her, and she's singing some blues and jazz, which surprised me, really good. But with Hayley recently, some things work, some things don't. As much as she is experimenting with new sounds, she can't risk her new album with some experimental material that 50% will like and 50% don't. It might be easy for some fans to say, if you like it, listen to it, if you don't leave her. But it's not that easy if she's likely to lose a part of her fanbase for taking that move. I have Hayley in my prayers everyday, that all good things come to her, and that she has an amazing career. Now this album has been bit of a concern too, as I really have high hopes, hehe, we'll see!

It seems to me that Hayley likes folk type music, she mentions artists that she likes that fit into this genre and some of the songs she had written for her past albums have been more folky than strictly classical, so there is a strong chance that this is the type of music that may inspire her new album or at least a few songs on it, but then again Hayley may suprise us all especially since I think she can sing almost anything.
I think Jeff asked an interesting question, would I have got into Hayley's music if a pure had been more folk/pop, personally I think I would still have loved her voice and some of my favourites on Pure are the more pop ones like Who Painted the Moon Black and Wuthering Heights (which are the ones she still sings in concerts now when she sings so few from Pure). I think what would be missing from a completely folk/pop album would be the purity of the voice as the classical music on Pure and Paradiso shows this off best and I would miss this.
So to get back on topic, personally I don't mind if the new album is classical inspired or more folk inspired, I just want to hear Hayley singing her own music and not just a load of covers and someone else's vision or idea, as long as it is her I know I will love it. Also I don't think it is a problem if it is more pop or folk and has to complete in the pop charts as there are plenty of singers who are not main stream that I listen to (Gabrielle Aplin, Nerina Pallot, Lisa Hannigan to name a few) that write music inspired by folk and get radio support from ones like Radio 2 (who also play Josh Groban music when other stations do not) and they still sell albums and may even sell more than those which get to the top of the classical chart because even if not everyone likes the music the fact that it is even played on the radio allows others to discover it and possibly buy it and I don't see Hayley being any different, why couldn't she write a great song and get radio support/play and win new fans? Of course she is never going to come close to pop starts, but she does not have to and is not in competition with them anyway, but she could still gain new fans and we already know that she can write beautiful songs.

Nice one Simba, Standing firmly behind Hayley, I think that is the one thing we all have in common. Haha thanks, shes's probably the only the celebrity (and person who I've never met), I feel about that way , Almost like a sister, so much that any good thing that happens to her makes me really happy, actually like you said, all of us! That's the amazing thing about HWI, we all share a personal connection with Hayley. And ofcourse for the sweetheart she is, she deserves nothing but the best!
