Yes, I agree about the lighting. On that video you can see the greenish coloured light shining in from the left just above ankle level. That was a problem for me whenever it was used, straight into my eyes and my camera lens. I had problems even seeing anything, let alone making a video. Fortunately it was only used on a few of the tracks. I found that some of her performances were better lit than others. The worst one for me (apart from those where they used the aforementioned green light) was probably Jonathan's Gethsemane.

Well our illustrious 'tourist' recorded it although Hayley was at times in almost pitch darkness! This video illustrates well how awful the stage lighting was - especially near the start - it was the worst lighting I've ever seen at a concert! But the sound is good. Scarborough FairCheers, Dave Big thanks to Dave and to the tourist! Remarkable video and sound At mark 1:10, Hayley turned to stage left and did a sort of circling gesture with her hand...I wonder what it meant? She does that quite a bit. Watch Martin's video from summer 2011, I think it was Mummer's Dance, she did the exact same thing, except she was looking straight forward. I have a feeling she is very well-aquainted with the person she's signaling to. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hello Libby! Hayley was clearly signalling to the mixing desk which was to the right of the stage. Arnaud was on the main sound desk at the back of the chapel, front centre to the stage. Richard

Ok, NOW I'm caught up haha. What an exceptional set list! So many songs she's seldom if ever performed before. Was this professionally recorded in any way? It would be a fantastic concert for a new DVD or live album -Rory

Yes, but which was he at the summer 2011 outdoor concert in 2011? It wasn't clear to me, since I couldn't see anybody, and know nothing about sound or mixing desks, and what the difference is, and why they're separate, etc.

Hello Libby! Basically the engineer on the mixing desk at the side of the stage adjusts the sound in the monitors as heard by the performers, hence Hayley's signals to the right. The main sound engineer at the back of the auditorium looks after the sound as heard by the audience. Richard

Hi everyone, Here is another video from Union Chapel, this one you've seen before but as I have two good versions now, from the Tourist and Martin D, and both have agreed to let me combine them, here is... Close To You - [by Tourist and Martin D] The audio and the wide shots are by Tourist and the close-ups by Martin D - thanks guys! Cheers, Dave

Thanks you guys! I noticed in the first part, in the low notes with a mouthful of words, she was a little off. Though I think that section sounds kind of hard to sing, kind of going up and down, and being so low for her. But then I don't think there's a single singer I've heard perform live, in person or through the computer screen, that hasn't missed a note or 2 once in a while. So, really, you can't judge a singer by whether they hit every single note perfectly in one performance you hear, and automatically conclude that they sing off-key all the time. Most of the time, they probably don't.

Hey Dave! Hayley Westenra Fans in Taiwan have been very complimentary about your editing of the 'Close To You' video. This is Bing's translation of their comments when they shared the link: I've posted the video on our Facebook page too. Richard

Nice one Dave and Martin, The two camera angles certainly add interest to the overall effect of the HWI posting. My own primary interest would be in the sound quality, getting good video is just the cherry on top.
I am sure Dave, life would have been easier if the two cameras had been identical with the same file types, well done.

Well done Dave,
The multi camera angles makes it look great.
I am so proud of Hayley for writing Talk To Me, It really should have been a hit for Childline, I don't understand why it was never used.
