Haha, Hello everyone! Haha, I wandered to the Off-topic discussions and randomly introduced myself as new on the chat thread. Well Hi! I am classyandraste. I am (gasp) a fan of Hayley Westenra! And have been ever since I heard "Never Saw Blue" on Pandora so many years ago now. I loved that song a lot, but had no idea that my sister had noticed how I liked it! She bought me the cd for my birthday, and so Odyssey became my first-ever Hayley cd and first privately owned cd. Another thing about me, is that I've always loved to sing, and to sing for people to help them relax, enjoy themselves, and drink in music has been a life-long dream... but I never had the courage to do anything about it. Hearing Hayley's story and listening to her heartfelt songs, as well as her courage and spunkiness to sing the songs that SHE wants to sing instead of letting other people tell her what to do has been my inspiration! Now I am becoming a singer almost against my will as a side hobby and am loving it, slowly overcoming stage fright and just being amazed at how wonderful music is! As I realized with tears this week that my voice has improved enough and that I am actually getting some fans (can you believe it???), that I should probably dig through my files and see how many songs I've written-- and I have written 20! I was so surprised, I thought I'd written 4 or 5, but there was 20! Yah, so, I am mentioning this, because I'd love to find out if there are other Hayley fans here that are singers or musicians that were inspired by Hayley, or even just artists of any type! Also, if you're creative, I realized I need to come up with an artist name for myself if I'm going to be a singer. Any ideas? I look forward to meeting all of you and hearing your stories!

Hi Classyandraste! May I extend a warm welcome. I'm Taylor, one of the "newer" people around here (though I've actually been around for about two years ). Anyway, you can see my story by clicking in my username and scrolling down. I'm also a musician! I'm 1st French Horn in my High School wind ensemble and do some singing in private. I also do a little drawing and I'm halfway decent with photography, photo/video editing, etc. Also, I would help you with a name, but I know so little about you, I don't think I could do you much justice! :je Hope to see you around! -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Thanks, I feel welcomed! And haha, very funny! ;P!! Are you the school clown too? Just kidding! Aha! A fellow musician! Excellent! I don't know the first thing about French Horn except that I can't play it. I'm terrible with wind instruments! I love the piano. I'll take a look at your bio, thanks for the welcome!

Hello classyandraste, and welcome to the forum! I've fixed your avatar picture. I suspect that hot linking has been disabled on the site you linked to, so I've hosted the image in my Photobucket album and changed the link in your profile. I couldn't do anything with the missing image in your signature, so you may have posted an incorrect URL. Best wishes from London, Richard

Hiya clasyandraste! I'm so happy that Hayley has been a positive influence for you I like to sing, but I have hardly any vocal projection. There is always a song in my head, so when I'm not listening to music, I'm either humming or whistling. Social media has done wonders for people's musical talent. Youtube has launched quite a few successful careers from humble folk just expressing genuine talent. There is a great app called Smule Sing!. One can sing, request duets, etc. Smule also makes an app called Magic Piano which I love! BTW clasyandraste, Richard fixed your avatar but I had no luck in fixing your signature image. Let me know if I can help you on that! Have a great day...smile and enjoy Joe

Thank you generously for the welcome! Wow, I had no idea there was any problem with either my avatar or my sig pic. To me they show up fine. Thanks for fixing my avatar, Richard! And as you can see, I have no idea about the first thing for sig pics. This is my first forum ever. So any help with these things is vastly appreciated!

This is my first forum ever. So any help with these things is vastly appreciated! Awww....yay! Simply reply with a photo or image you would like for your sig image. And I will set it up for you (and maybe create several for you to see which you like better). Please note that the image should be less than 800 pixels wide so it fits the screen. Enjoy, Joe

Welcome, classy. Odyssey was the album that officially made me a fan, too! And Never Saw Blue has always been my favorite from the album, and one of my favorite Hayley songs of all. I like to sing too. I'm very confident and do well when singing in a group (choir, church service), or along with music, but by myself, I have no confidence, even if I sing with nobody around. I've gotten worse, because I don't have enough opportunity to practice enough to be a very strong singer, so obviously even though I have a voice, it's not something I could ever do for a living, that's for sure! If I had more time, I'd join a church choir again (I used to be in youth choir), but my schedule is much too irregular to go to any choir practice.

Hi Libby! That sounds like me a month ago-- even just a week ago! I always thought that if I were to be in a band, I would go up as ask to be a vocalist myself. But it was literally three days after my last final at college, I was visiting my gpa, and one of the band members somehow found out that I sang in a choir and that I like music and asked me to be a vocalist for them. Since then we've been practicing and it's been a fun but terrifying ride! Every time something new and horrifying to overcome (haha)! Everything from a guy bumping into my mike during a song and nearly making it fall over, to a lady attending every performance simply to roll her eyes and plug her ears, to a visitor walking into the room and talking loudly before shamefacedly realizing that I was in the middle of a song. But the guys in the band have been through all of that themselves, and they believe in me, and they encourage me so much! And the happiness that the songs bring to the people that do enjoy it is so evident on their faces and in their thanks afterwards, that I can't help but know that no matter what happens, I need to keep practicing and singing, just for them, for everyone who loves music, for music itself, and to praise God too-- because He created music! ) After all, I wouldn't be in the music industry unless He wanted me in it!! I was planning to be a writer. Things don't happen how we plan! Haha!
