Hello Peter, No, I actually see your point and highly respect it. I guess, despite being American, have my own set of 'unique' values and don't like society imposing certain values on me. Whereas in Hayley's case, I think what the word 'temptress' is trying to convey is Hayley's first steps of womanhood, as you said. I don't think it's particularly 'bad' depending on how you look at in context. However, I still think the media is cruel, and they do intend to create controversy at times. I really would be interested to see what both, Jill and Hayley, think of this title. Maybe they didn't mind it, and maybe they did. Dori

A very interesting post Peter. I have, to a certain extent, been aware of the situation us 'older' fans are in, but it has never really worried me. Perhaps because when I came on the scene, there was already an established group of such people and I just tagged onto that.
I think, however, that there is a great difference between the perceived 'dirty old man' and all the stigmas that that carries with it and the 'fartherly' (or perhaps more acurately Grandfartherly) approach that I believe we maintain.
I believe Hayley is aware that our love for her is born out of respect and the desire to be protective of her and that she is very comfortable with that. Many of the images posted here depict a very affectionate Hayley - not one doing only what the fans expect of her.
Best wishes Grant

That is very true Grant - Hayley's poses are still innocent and like they used to be even when she was younger. They are not the 'sexy' or innapropriate poses the press would, without doubt, want to see. We should all be very proud of Hayley's maturity and self-esteem. Dori

My lack of English vocabulary resurfaces here...what does "tempress" mean exactly ? Thanks in advance Perhaps this is not an inappropriate moment to elaborate... Discussing the meaning of "temptress" is OK but apart from that, let's try to keep this thread on topic (the NZ Womans Weekly article). Cheers, Dave

Hmm Peter beat me to almost every salient point I was going to make about this I took it to be a clear if somewhat genteel (read diplomatic) attempt on her part to make a "coming of age" statement - and frankly I would be amazed if the final product wasnt pretty much what Hayley was looking for. This being said, the word "temptress" probably does carry a somewhat higher emotional index as applied in the US - or maybe not.....there is possibly a more active connotation here than elsewhere - (ie an actress is a woman who acts - and generally this doesnt happen by accident or just in the course of things) which is what I suspect Dori is reacting to. The bottom line though is that Hayley has definately chosen to reveal that a door is now open which was not the case in the past. As it happens, she is also a remarkably good looking young woman, who really doesnt have to work that hard to turn heads. Jon

Another lovely article about our dear Hayley. I love the fact that Mum and Daughter both contribute to the article. To me, the overall theme was of a young woman, travelling many different places, constantly growing and maturing, yet still as involved as possible with her family back home. I love the way both Hayley and her mum Jill were involved in the article...although I thought the picture on the front cover could have been a bit bigger. And yes, Dori, I do believe that they both take gorgeous pictures together. It is a bit moving to see those pictures and read this article and realize the personal connection between mother and daughter even across oceans! (But I will stop with all that before I get all mushy. ) It is a lovely article though. Whomever Hayley has been able to "date" is/are lucky individual(s) indeed! And I agree with Stephany...."Go Hayley!" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I'm only a tad bit jealous. :2fun: Thanks Dori for sharing. I know Hayley will appreciate the time of rest in her near future. Cheers, Eric

A temptress perhaps, certainly a siren, she has the voice anyway! I'm certainly glad I'm not an english mariner these days.

When I read that article again I realized something... I'm not sure what the magazine intended with the word "temptress", but I really am starting to see it the other way. I'm not speaking of her gift of singing, but frankly speaking Hayley exudes femininity in a very healthy way... she was also given a gift of being beautiful to so many (handed down also from her mom and grand ma as we can all see ), and yet she dresses in a non overt way so as not to flout it. I have to respect that in this overtly sex crazed world. Its just so - well *healthy* to see that. So I hope that Hayley does indeed tempt people to be the same... if that is the case then more power to the useage of that word I have to add she has amazing taste in clothes...(well about 95% of the time .

Hi Grant, I wouldn't doubt if Hayley isn't more mature in some respects than folks 15 years her senior. She has probably hung out with adults more than kids since she was 16 I would venture - do you think? And that has got to rub off in a serious way. Intuitively, I would think she doesn't "see" people just from their outer shell but tries to see them for who they are - 25-30 year olders that happen to occupy older bodies i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif all the best, Peter T.

Thanks for putting the article on the Forum, Dori. It was great to read. I saw Hayley perform with CW at Radio City Music Hall in New York on March 16. I thought that I was at first, imagining something, but your article seems to confirm that what I suspected was probably correct: I did in fact notice that Hayley would, as she stated in the article, "keep an eye on the audience", to see if someone was "behaving differently". In my opinion at least, she wasn't just making eye contact. It appeared to me that she was being quite observant. If so, then I can't blame her, especially after the incident in Germany. Hopefully, she was re-assured by the fact that Radio City did have security people right at the front row....standing right next to me. It saddens me to realize that there is always the potential for an incident to occur anywhere. Hopefully, none ever will again. Regards to all, Gene.
