Fiona and her band will play for about 65 minutes at a cost of $10. It is part of a music festival running for about 10 days celebrating the opening of the Cardboard Cathedral. For $60 I can see all 10 shows such as Dame Malvina Major, choirs, organ music etc.

Hello Ross and everybody! Tickets for Fiona's concert are available here: premier.ticketek.co.nz/shows/Show.aspx?sh=VIOLINCH13I see the show is called "Violin on Fire", which could be dangerous in a building made of cardboard! Take a fire extinguisher with you, just in case. Richard

No offence or anything, but I use the hot topics button everyday to see new thread and I've been fooled by Fiona pears threads a lot of times thinking it's a Hayley concert or update and then get disappointed. It'll be nice if only Hayley threads are shown in the hot topics or atleast add Fiona pears in the title Like "Fiona pears concert at Christchurch Cathedral 9 Aug 2013" And I'd happily ignore it that way.

Oh, come on Simba, would you really go to Christchurch to see Hayley? And Fiona is someone many of us have seen perform and like. But I agree with the suggestion that the mods should change the title of this thread as you suggest.

Oh I wouldn't but a new Hayley concert always excites me to know about the set list, and later on pictures and videos

Hello Simba and Martin D! Point taken, so I've modified the title of this thread to include Fiona's name. Perhaps any new threads started on this sub-board could include "Fiona Pears" in the title, please. Richard

Fiona Pears in Cardboard Cathedral Concert 9th Aug 2013Fiona's concert tonight was part of a series of concerts celebrating the opening of the Cardboard Cathedral which is the temporary cathedral while Christchurch decides what cathedral we will end up building. The concerts are called Joyfully Unmunted and I am going to 5 of them including tomorrow's Dame Malvina Major which is sold out (as was Fiona's). The Cathedral can hold 700 people and it surprisingly does have great acoustics. Note the cardboard rafters (it does have timber beams inside them) and inside the cardboard theme continues including the cross Part of the old Cathedral stainless glass windows were incorporated into the new window The concert started at 6pm and this was the stage Ian Tilley was on the keyboards, Mike Ferrar on the guitar and Pete Fleming on the Double Bass. Fiona appeared in a gorgeous purplish-red full length dress. First song was Fiona's relatively new song called Full Moon and with the great acoustics it sounded beautiful. Then another newish song about being in Paris called Memories. (excuse the poor quality photos I have a new phone I am getting used to) My Pal The Gypsy was a step up in pace and then a brand new song that Fiona wrote late at night and so what did she call it but Daylight lol. It was near classical (Fiona said so) and slow paced but it sound exquisite. Swing Driven Thing was next and it is also the title song for the new album. Travelling North was another brand new song and Fiona said she has no idea why she called it that. It is Celtic and builds into a fast pace which everyone loved. Then the highlight of the night and very appropriate for the venue the hauntingly beautiful Cathedral Tango. Danse Norwegian is a Django tune. Then a regularly played tune called Tangissimo. By the Moonlight is also a brand new song written under moonlight in this case and is a lovely jazz number. Then one dedicated to her mother called Jalousie. And lastly as the concert only went for one hour was the famous Hava Nigila. I got to meet Fiona and Ian (he is about to head back to London) and John did the lighting. In the audience was Dame Malvina Major and I will get to see her sing tomorrow.

Hello Ross! I can see the problem at a glance. To display the picture, you must remove the s from https in the URL: I've also resized the photograph to 800 x 450. Richard
