Just been listening to the clips. It is something different from Hayley to be sure, but I really like it. I agree that Hayley is capable of much more with that wonderful voice, it doesn't take a 3 octave range to sing songs like that. But isn't it true that NO song or album of Hayley's has ever done justice to the full range of talent that we know she has. We are all hoping for an album one day that will do so, but I'm not even sure that's possible. Hayely is an incredibly versatile artist, and Hushabye has brought out another side of her that we hadn't really seen before. I look farward to hearing the whole album.

Hmm I don't know what makes people think these are simple songs, you may hit the highest and lowest notes, and fastest runs (hayley has it all XD) but to interpret these songs with such intimacy is more important and more reachable to mankind as a whole. I think hayley's won it big time

From what I can tell, all the tracks are sung in the same style. It's quite whispery with a fair bit of vibrato. The vibrato was what bugged me a bit. It sounded a bit wider than what I've heard her sing in the past. But again, no final judgement until I've really heard it -Rory Her vibrato is certainly not wider, it's rate has only become faster, ever since paradiso. Or are you trying to explain something else when you mentioned 'wider'?

Not sure if it's intentional technique or just the growth of her voice -Rory

Hi everyone, Thanks for the iTunes tips, though I have to say I found the samples on the first link to be very short, and they sounded over-compressed to me. So I went hunting around and fired up my rarely used iTunes application (rather than the web browser). Boy am I glad I did! They have high quality samples of all 16 'UK bonus edition' tracks, most of which are up to 90 seconds long (only two of 30 seconds). I have spent the last few hours editing all the samples down for a complete sample set on our website, which I hope to complete tonight so watch this space. I will also create a UK edition thread tonight, now that we know probably all we need to know about it. And what I now know for the first time is that I absolutely LOVE what I have heard of this album! There, I said it. As far as I'm concerned, Jon Cohen was right all along, this is good stuff. Not exciting in any way shape or form and a couple of the tracks are a bit too slow for my liking, but it's just delicate, gentle, beautiful music from beginning to end. Mood music for when I'm in the mood for it and right now, I certainly am. All those samples are a nice present for our 10th anniversary and for the first time in my life I can say that I love marmite! Cheers, Dave

Hi all, The samples are available on Australian Itunes with a release date of 14 June 2013. I had a good listen. Bau Be is the highlight of the album in my opinion. So get the deluxe version. I think I also like this song the most as Hayley herself likes it enough to sing at her own concerts. Next is Sleep On is the highlight of the album. It is the best song and has the best vocals on it. Hine Hine is probably next - although my preference is for the Pure arrangement or this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0jkFU7goDIWhile prettily sung, I don't think there's much to get excited about on this album (probably other than Bau Be which is the only glimmer of Hayley's own artistic direction). I think the reason I think that is because I know this album has nothing to do with Hayley's artistic direction or any of the songs and material she's been working on for the last few years. For example, I think that if I knew Hayley had set out to make this album by her own choosing and this was what she had been working on for years then I think I would be able to try to appreciate it more. Whereas I can't help but think that this was something where, by and large, Hayley was presented with a track list by Decca and told to get in the studio and rush something out ASAP. I can't help it, but all I can think when I look and listen to Hushabye is that it is just another frustrating road block in between a proper album being released. It is also bugs me a little that the spin being put on Hushabye is that Hayley is doing a marvellous job and making the most out of being on the back foot before she even started (i.e. having to make a lullaby album, having to find a way to record Twinkle Twinkle Little Star). I just don't see why it had to happen in the first place. Why does Hayley have to be put in that position? Don't think that I'm saying Hushabye is badly sung - it's not, it's beautiful. It's just that the whole idea of it is just so lame and watching Hayley participating in such a blatant Decca cash grab with no artistic merit is troubling for me. I mean, I fully understand she probably has no say in the matter, and that kind of makes me sad. Fingers crossed that Hayley setting up her home studio and tweeting about writing new songs means that something else is on the horizon.

Hi all,
The Taiwanese edition of Hushabye is up on Itunes with the same tracks as the UK version. No word on the Japanese edition yet.

I succumbed completely and listened to all the itune samples. Whether you like it or not this album is a magnificent achievement to the highest standard. Far to early to review but I will say (cause my parents were Welsh) that I am gobsmacked at the Welsh version of All Through The Night. Hayley's grasp of the language, which is damn difficult, is amazing. But we all know that Hayley has a natural aptitude to learn language and pronunciation. After listening to Hushabye Deluxe on ITunes UK we will be buying the CD. Wasn't really sure if I was going to or not after that teaser that Decca put out, but after hearing snippets of the whole CD, it is definitely a "YES" to add to the growing Hayley collection!!!! Just waiting to see what is listed on each release. Checked on Best Buy today and they have Hushabye with a release date of 6/25/2013 and Lullaby (Bonus Tracks) (Japan)(Shm) with a release date of 8/6/2013. I am hoping that one of them will have all the songs that were listed for the deluxe version on ITunes UK, since one can't download them from the states. If not I hope Decca will be releasing the Deluxe version around the same time, not that one has to buy multiple CDs just to get the few other songs that weren't on the original.

Strangely my itunes samples (a few) are longer than the ones here, and infact of better quality too. The background music seems to be of lower volume on our samples and clarity of voice and bg music is better on the itunes player.

$30?!?! For us in the US, it's WAY cheaper ($19.47 at the current exchange rate) to just pay the extra shipping from Amazon.co.uk . Not to mention it'll ship a week earlier. So, heads up to our US members. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
