Yes, I would always buy in-store if I could. I just wish our local shops would carry more of Hayley's music. Even at our Barnes & Noble they only have Odyssey and Celtic Treaure. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hi Libby and all, Although it`s a nice idea to buy in-store we have very few cd retailers left excluding the supermarkets .Hmv which has just come out of administration was our last large high street cd retailer and even then offered lower prices on line.My view is go for the best price. Stephen That sort of thinking is probably what puts the music stores out of business. Borders books went bankrupt and closed a couple years ago. And I certainly don't want B & N to go the same route. So, with that in mind, I'll buy not only to support Hayley in the US, but to also support the physical book/music stores. Sometimes it's easier to buy a CD without having to rip open yet another cardboard box/package. I order enough stuff online, and opening packages gets a little old sometimes. I also think having a CD in a physical store is actually a great promotion opportunity (as Dave indicated above). When people shop for music online, they normally already have something in mind to buy, and search specifically for that. Nobody's going to see something they weren't already planning to buy, except maybe for a few related suggestions at the bottom of the page. Whereas, in a store, the CDs are all on display, and people are much more likely to see something they weren't specifically looking for before. If something catches their eye, they can physically handle the CD, and look at the back for songs. Of course, they can't preview the tracks ahead of time like you can on the websites. But, if they'd never heard of the singer before, they wouldn't even be thinking about previewing their tracks to begin with! If I do manage to find Hayley's new album in store, I'm seriously thinking of trying Hayley's own tactic of making her CDs a little more prominent. If you've read her book, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about! If not, then read the book! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Maybe that doesn't help you out, but at least it gives people the opportunity to at least see it; it may be the only time they'd ever see Hayley's name, for all you know. My closest B & N hardly carries any music other than top 40, so they would never, ever carry a Hayley CD, so count yourself extremely lucky. I'd say, when her album comes out, at least call them and see if they have it. If I go to the store in Bellevue, I'll be going way out of my way to buy a Hayley CD. Downtown Seattle would be, too, and not a place I necessarily feel comfortable going (they just had a "May Day" protest last night, whatever that means! ). So, Taylor, when Hayley's CD becomes available, you can go to bn.com, and when you find Hayley's album, select "Pick up in store", or whatever it says, and you put in your zipcode, and it'll show whether any of the stores in your area have it in store. But, if a store that already has 2 of Hayley's CDs doesn't have Hayley's new CD, I'd be a little surprised. Don't be too pessimistic yet!

Well, it's the only one within about 60 miles of here, so they have to have a rather lage selection if they want any sales. But I am very grateful they have her on the shelves (even if it's not her recent stuff). It is kind of strange to think how much buying music has changed the past 10 years. Like, only 2 of my Hayley CD's I've bought in-store. Would've been a completely different story in 2003. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

And without having to call it in first, right? Because that's the only way I've bought her CDs in store before. This time, I'm determined to find it in the store myself. I'm hoping I don't have to hunt for it too much, though.

Well, if you look at our UK friends and music buyers in 2003 (as that's what I was talking about), " only" would be correct and accurate, in comparison. Honestly, everyone bought CD's then; therefore, there was a greater variety in stores. iTunes was in it's infancy. Not quite the case, nowadays. However, since it's still possible to find a couple of Hayley's albums here, I take that as a good sign. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Hi Martin and all, Most supermarkets only stock once the album has reached the top 50 and hence pre-ordering on line can get the cd into the shop.If I had waited for Winter Magic to appear there would still be a gap in my record collection!!. I object strongly in having to pay a premium for buying from a shop, which in some cases can be £2 to £3. On a lighter note I enjoyed Twinkle Twinkle Little Star which surprised me.It must be the old Hayley magic!!.
Stephen.

Hi -, It is sad to note that on Amazon UK's 100 Hot New and Future Releases, "Hushabye" which had been hovering around the 50's and 60's for awhile, and which had spiked briefly up to nearly 30 right after "Sleep On" was aired, has now plummeted steadily since then to 97 as of the moment. Would not be surprised to find it gone from the top 100 in the morning. Wonder what the reason for that is? That is not encouraging to see. BobS www.amazon.co.uk/gp/new-releases/music#5

It's probably low at the moment because there have been no tv interviews or live performances or real interviews with press, so far only press release and classic FM play. I think when we see her on tv and hopefully performing some of the songs it will do much better with amazon charts.

Nothing to be concerned about. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your words of wisdom and assurance. After that lovely grand launch of "Sleep On" on Classic FM, I expected to see "Hushabye" start to soar on Amazon, which it did, briefly, before its disappointing drop. Am glad to hear that it is only behaving normally now, and that the soaring will come. By the way, you certainly packed a lot of "Sleep On" into that "30"-second recording of yours. The presenter's opening and closing remarks are the icing on the cake.
Thanks, BobS

Hi Bob, Decca agreed some years ago to let us use a bit more than 30 seconds in fact, though finding a good start and end point in just over 30 seconds isn't always easy and this was a case in point, so I pushed at the boundaries slightly, this time. Cheers, Dave

BobS www.amazon.co.uk/gp/new-releases/music#5 And it dropped out. The recent little flurry of publicity by Decca with a new full version for "Sleep On" on YouTube seems to have had a quick effect on Amazon. "Hushabye" is now back in the top 100 at 96. That didn't take long. BobS
