I guess I was talking about Hayley's singing, and not the backing, I personally liked this performance more than any other summer fly because of her glissandos that she did at places like, Universe inside my 'room' and then 'june', which were more appropriate to the genre of this song, and also the ornamentations and riffs that she did at quite some places were very impressive I certainly thought this one of her best vocal performances of the song. At least, I thought her vocals were stronger than other times, and it was just the right timing. Other times it was a little too fast, or something. This time, aside from the weak stringed section, it was absolutely fabulous. Taylor, one Josh Groban concert I went to at an outdoor amphitheatre had 2 big screens on each side... Which means that Hayley is as big of a star in Taiwan as Josh Groban is worldwide, pretty much.

Which is sayin' somethin'!! A couple other things; We saw the 2013 concert tour sampler, right? Did anybody know there was a 2011 one!? Was just checking out Frank Lin's site, when I ran across this: Also, since Hayley's tour, "The Best of Pure Voice" has skyrocketed back to #2 on the TW classical charts (3 years after it's release)! She is only beaten by her own hero, Andrea Bocelli. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

These two pictures stopped me dead in my tracks. I have witnessed similar scenes at Hayley's signings. They brought a tear to my eye too Comet ..... and yes, like you, I have seen this very special side of Hayley at many concerts. There was a similarly long queue to meet Hayley in Northampton early last year - I don't know how long Hayley spent at that particular one in Taiwan but, in Northampton it was over an hour and, because of the layout of the theatre the queue snaked up and down stairs and around corners. There was a lady in a wheelchair I remember very well, who could not get to the signing table because of the stairs. She sat patiently whilst her husband queued. I don't know if he actually asked Hayley if she would go over and say hello to his wife, but Hayley was out of her seat and on her way to speak to the lady before you could say boo to a goose. Don't you just love those moments? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest wishes Grant

Hi everyone
I love those performances of flower in the rainy night and bao bei, they really suit Hayley's voice. I was listening to pure recently and thinking that I like when she sing s the higher part on 'sing god's praise' and how she hasn't done that recently in many performances I've seen so its great to hear her do that in this concert, although it wasn't exactly the same as the pure recording which is even better actually. I hope she does record the new songs and that I can get a copy somehow, Hayley's Japanese and Chinese singing has led me to discover loads of new music and to try singing in Japanese and Chinese too!

This BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERis worth a thread of it's own. From the Tainan Concert videoed by FrankLin (Hayley kept him busy trying to keep her in the frame.) Hayley Westenra live at the Eternal Golden Castle, Tainan, Taiwan on 13rd April, 2013. Hayley's vocal is absolutely stunning, I have listened to it repeatedly for the last few hours. I have hair standing up on the back of my neck....woa collywobbles..... I could do without the orchestra altogether and the big dramatic ending crescendo takes away from the sincerity and the intimacy of the words of the song, A song of reassurance and consolation to a friend in need. a soft almost whispered ending would be beautiful. Methinks.. but what would I know ?
