Wow, "Bridge Over Troubled Water", I never thought Hayley would attempt this iconic song which is one of my all time favourites by Simon and Garfunkel. Very brave!
Without doubt Hayley performed it exquisitely but I didn't like the orchestration. Hayley only needs piano, and perhaps guitar, for this song.

Hmmm... It was a great performance by Hayley, but that drummer has given me a headache! Richard

Absolutely stunning! She should totally record this! As much as I'd have loved a complete acoustic piano/guitar thing, this is like a double treat I really really enjoyed the orchestration and the big finish, it'd have been awesomer if hayley took the high long "your mind" in the end. And I particularly didn't like how she cut down some words at around 0:35 when "times" get "rough" that it all went slightly off. But amazing nevertheless Can't wait to hear I believe and Tsubomi!

Well, I've only had time to play it through once, that was after midnight last night after I got home from Birmingham (yes, another concert in the Symphony Hall). Saw Frank's tweet, and Hayley's performance blew me away. And yes, this song should have a big finish, thrilling isn't it to hear Hayley do that. Was at work today. Hope to play it again tonight, but safely downloaded anyway.

Looking at the news clips and videos, I cannot help but notice she is gesturing the backstage about her microphone a lot. I have never been to a concert, it this normal?

Yes I have seen Hayley do this on her Paradiso tour of NZ. One time she even went to the side of the stage to talk to the sound engineer. As we all know Hayley is a perfectionist when it comes to her music.

I barely even noticed the orchestration, I mostly just noticed Hayley! Wow, I thought I was picky about some of her performances, good heavens. Vocally, it was certainly better than the sound check one from last August, I think. However, I do think that gesturing while you're performing live can look a little odd, and can be a little distracting. But, I guess you do what you have to do. At least in You Raise Me Up (which was outstanding, btw!), it was a little bit more discreet. She moved her head down gracefully with her finger, so if you didn't know better, you would just think it was part of the way she was performing the song.

I agree you that Hayley's performance is impeccable. While I like the orchestration, I think it didn't quite match her level of performance. More practice might have fixed it perhaps??

Looking at the news clips and videos, I cannot help but notice she is gesturing the backstage about her microphone a lot. I have never been to a concert, it this normal? Some of Hayley's gestures may also be about her stage monitor (The wedge shaped speakers on the floor pointing up at the performer) or in ear monitor which she seldom uses. But yes depending on where the sound engineer is located and what Hayley is actually hearing on stage, each song is different and sometimes the orchestra just drowns out the monitor or Hayley just can't hear herself, or the monitor is to loud from the last songs loudness setting. Also Hayley is moving about quite a bit on the T shaped stage, much to Frank Lin's dismay as he tries to track her with his discreetly held camera. a certain phrase comes to mind. "The way you do anything is the way you do everything"Usually applies to perfectionists but you can try it on almost any one you know, it also applies to the sloppy and careless.

WOW! I think this one is even better than Tainan. Fantastic performance and a nice video. Love the a capella bit at the start too.

Yup it was stunning! The drums really do add to the emotion for me It's a very powerful song and it's nice to hear Hayley backed with a powerful orchestra. The pause at the end and the take off Roll was stunning, loved it.

Removed noise from the video, did some EQ to make hayley's voice louder and reduce bass of the drums and added a mild reverb. Removed the applause at the end too, this is of better quality I think Here's for anyone who's interested. BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER MP3
