Hi Martin,

I agree I have made out UNICEF, David Foster, Hayley and Hayley Westenra as being in the writing but nothing else. Were it in English I would expect to recognise some more words. It has been sugested that it is from Jakarta. Maybe Anggie will look in and let us know if it is.

I just see the article. It's Premio, a premium free magazine in Jakarta. I've got their twitter account; gonna ask them if I could get a copy. Or else, I will grab one in Grand Indonesia mall, if there's still any. There are only 4 questions I can read. I'll try to translate it in English in my words. 1) Becoming a star in such a young age, how did you get along with it? 2) What is your preparation to have a concert with David Foster? 3) How do you get the opportunity to cooperate with David Foster? 4) When did you realize that you can sing? I can barely see Hayley's answers. I think the most important part is in the last sentence of the first paragraph. It's said: Premio has the opportunity to talk to her and becomes the witness of the beauty and hospitality of this such talented young lady.

Here is the translation of Hayley's article in Premio. I found the hard copy but it was not for sale. It's for reading only. I translate it myself, I'm sorry if there are mistakes here and there.


This beautiful soprano singer from NZ has released album since 16 years old. ‘Pure’ even became the fastest selling of classical album in 21st century. Hayley Westenra does classical-crossover music, combined classical music with the other genres like pop and jazz. She’s also a UNICEF ambassador and the youngest person ever to be the ambassador. Become one of the performers in David Foster concert, Hayley got the opportunity to perform in Indonesia for the first time. Premio got the chance to talk with her and became the witness of the beauty and hospitality of this very talented young lady.


Become the international singer in a very young age, how did you get along with that?

I started it all in NZ, a small country; I think it’s a perfect place to start it all. Then I moved to UK, where I could get more experiences, including interview with media. And when I released international album, I was lucky to have family beside me, at least one of my parents.


What did you prepare to have a concert with David Foster?

We had rehearsal in Singapore, in the beginning of this tour. Everything was fun, every person involved in the concert was very supportive, and David is a nice guy. He always makes me comfortable on the stage. The atmosphere was really good.


How could you be involved in David Foster concert?

I met David for the first time years ago. When he asked me to join the concert, of course I accepted it directly. Not only cooperate with David, but be able to be in one stage with Chaka Khan, Paul Young, Babyface, and the other musicians is too worthy to be missed.


When did you realize that you love singing?

I was a little girl who always sings, but my parents never realized that I had this talent. It’s my teacher who realized it when I was 6 years old. I was a very shy kid, but after sang on the stage for the first time, I enjoyed it. No one could stop me singing ever since.


How does it feel to be one of the youngest UNICEF ambassadors?

I became the ambassador when I was 16 years old in NZ. I was so interested with the role, even though in the beginning I was not sure because of the big responsibility. My first duty is go to Ghana to help children there to get the bicycles. It’d make them easy to go to their schools. The journey really changed my life, especially after I saw their struggle to study.


You wrote one biography book, what made you want to write one?

I was doubt to write it initially because I felt that I was too young to write autobiography. But then many people asked me to do that, and I realized that I have been in music industry for 8-10 years, so I have many to share with people. And it’s fun to tell my experiences on papers so my fans could know me better.


Your latest album ‘Paradiso’ released in 2011, do you have a plan to make the next album?

Yes, I’m writing songs and starting to make demos, it’s a very initial step. I still don’t know what would be it be and I don’t want to be rush in the process. I want to enjoy the process to get the best result.
