I came across Barbara Bonney in a roundabout way,
Many years ago, I would request Hayley on RTE Lyric FM and some of the presenters would substitute the requested track with the Barbara Bonney version,
Arggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh. So I was not initially in a receptive mood to listen to her, just angry because they had substituted her.
But I have heard a lot of her material played on the radio in those long years in between and I have really come to like her, She is one of the "Good Guys" too.
Does a lot to nurture young musicians and performers and she does sing beautifully too.
So to help some of you guys to vary your diet of listening material I recommend you give her a listen. Don't forget the phrase :
"Familiarity breeds contempt"
