He was classically trained as a pianist, and has done a few classical pieces, both vocal and instrumental. One of them is "Leningrad". But my favourite song he did is "The Downeaster Alexa."

Billy also wrote the beautiful tear-jerking lullaby 'Goodnight My Angel'. I can certainly imagine Hayley singing that.

Honesty is a wonderful song. I just love it. It has come to mind recently, several times, Such a true and powerful lyric :
"Honesty is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue. Honesty is hardly ever heard. "
I had it on an OFF CENTERED 7 inch single for years, sometimes it played like a bag of cats, had to be nudged manually onto the centre of the turntable to get it right.
Have it on CD now, miss the turntables.

Do you like "This Is The Time?" I'm listening to that right now. I just copied and pasted the title into YouTube, I don't think I ever heard it before. Spent many years playing 7 inch singles on 45 RPM turntables that did not even have 33 rpm for playing Albums Lps. So I am more familiar with songs that were released on 7 inch singles.

Is anyone here aware of Billy Joel's heavy metal period? LOVE "All For Leyna", "This Is The Time," "Allentown", "River Of Dreams", Bit of trivia for you: when I saw Hayley had a song called "River Of Dreams", I thought "oh great, Billy Joel!" and got a bit disappointed when I found out it wasn't . I think Hayley would do a great job covering Billy Joel's "River Of Dreams."

I'm a fan of Billy Joel's. I have some of his albums, but I haven't heard that classical album he did a few years back. I don't think I've heard 'Goodnight, My Angel' either. Must check them out.
I think my favourite songs of his are 'Leningrad', 'Honesty', 'New York State Of Mind, 'The Downeaster Alexa' and 'Vienna'.

I love The Downeaster Alexa (In fact, one of the stories I'm writing right now is inspired by it) Fun fact: Hayley and Alexa Ray Joel are only two years apart.
