I've been listening to Jeanette MacDonald on Youtube and fallen in love with her singing. Especially her recordings of Italian Street Song and Ah, Sweet Mystery Of Life from Naughty Marietta. In the first song she (gasp) HITS A HIGH C FOUR TIMES AND HOLDS IT! I can't even hit it once, let alone hold it. I seem to be the only person in my school who's heard of her. She's from around the same period as Mario Lanza and Deanna Durbin. I'm jealous of her being able to hit a high C four times. (When I try to hit that note, it sounds like a strangled cat.)
She actually had an opera career for a while after training with Lotte Lehman, according to her Wikipedia article. She's better-known for the movies she made with Nelson Eddy. And I think Hayley herself should sing some of Jeanette's songs. Particularly Italian Street Song. Anyone else a fan of hers?

Your link led me to watch a few of Jeanette's performances on YouTube
It is a pity about the recording quality available at the time Jeanette was singing. ( The sound just gives me the heebie jeebies , like a sour taste in the mouth)
You probably have higher quality recording facilities available to you in your own home now.

Anyone else want to share their opinions of Jeanette? BTW, actually a teacher at my school says she thinks she was named after Jeanette. (She doesn't like Naughty Marietta all that much, but she loves "Ah, Sweet Mystery Of Life".)
