Something very odd happened at the weekend on Andrew Lloyd Webber's new ITV talent competition to select someone for the role of Jesus Christ in the forthcoming arena tour of his mega hit musical "Jesus Christ Superstar". One of the 40 shortlisted candidates was none other than Jonathan Ansell which was odd in itself since I thought that those taking part were meant to be "unknowns".
However, he was booted off last night and did not make the last 30. This I found to be particularly odd as ALW must have known him especially after Jonathan has recently starred in the lead role of the UK tour of his musical "Whistle Down the Wind".
It has now transpired that Jonathan was already in rehersals for the production of 'A Tale of Two Cities' in London and the panel were unimpressed, pointing out he would have to drop out of the production if he were to get through to the final stages of 'Superstar'. But they saved him the decison as they then proceeded to boot him off!!
Pity though as he had one of the better voices in the competion.

Hi Martin,
I saw on Twitter that there was a lot of fuss about that and I wasn't sure what was going on.
