Something tells me they don't allow anyone to take cameras in there, Taylor. Theaters in this country, or at least in my area, tend to prohibit them. Which means if Hayley ever comes here, I probably won't be able to take a picture or video of her either, because the theaters in Seattle that I've been to do not allow photography inside. Ah, but that's just the opening shot Libby. Do they search you on the door? And how about mobile phone cameras. Our own De Montfort Hall in Leicester is plastered with notices forbidding cameras and recording sevices. Yey when I went to see Alfie Boe there there were several I could see in front of me from my position in the circle. And then when Alfie openly invited photography, and posed for photos hundreds of cameras appeared. Most used flash too, since although it is useless at that distance, lots of people don't seem to know how to turn it off. So, always take your camera, but don't let it be seen unless you know it s safe, or until near the end of the show. Some of those places don't check (but some have camera police) - you just have to play it by ear. Martin D

Most venues I go to check bags no matter what they allow or don't allow. At the Paramount Theatre where I've seen Celtic Woman twice, among other things, prohibits photography, and I never saw anyone taking any pictures. However, now that I think of it, I don't recall anyone there searching bags. Hmm, maybe I'm remembering wrong... it's been 2 years since I was there last. I just know on their website they say it's not allowed, and we've never dared to try, and since nobody else was, I don't think we'd have the nerve to try. Well, maybe if it was Hayley, but then, we don't want to be thrown out in the middle of a Hayley concert! LOL, hopefully they wouldn't do that, though! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifWell, if anyone here does go, they should check the venue's website just to be sure.

Haven't had a chance to post in a while, but as luck would have it I just moved to the Boston area about 4 weeks ago. I have purchased a ticket and I plan on going. I probably won't try to take any pictures (I have never heard Hayley sing in person so I would prefer to just listen), but I will post what songs she sings afterwards.
I am really excited for this show!

Just thought I'd mention that performers sometimes specifically override the standard notices at venues, as mentioned above regarding Alfie Boe, and at Hayley concerts she often has the "no photos" announcement changed to "no flash photography". I've even known Hayley herself to correct an erroneous blanket "no photography" announcement made at the start!
Therefore, it is best to be prepared, just in case. Mario *might* do an "Alfie" or a "Hayley", you never know. But if not sure, leave any photos until near the end, and by the time the encores start you are going to be pretty safe, whatever they announced. In the UK (it is probably similar in the US but I don't know the law there) the concert hall staff have no right to confiscate cameras or cards, delete photos, or have you delete them. The worst they can legally do is ask you to leave - normally only if they have previously warned you. Pre-concert bag searches are rare at Hayley concerts and even then, they only worry about "professional" looking cameras with big lenses. It may of course be different in the US.
However, wherever you are, the bigger the event, the more likely it is that restrictions and monitoring will be in place.
Cheers, Dave

Hi Katie! Oh, I am so glad you are planning to attend! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Too bad the BSO insist on no photography...but I hope Hayley can be of help Most concert and sports venue nowadays do random bag searches and other measures. At my first Hayley concert...at the interval, I was not allowed to climb the stairs to the bancony level to take photos of the stage. And I tried to sneak a photo during the concert but the flash went off by accident! Luckily I wasn't noticed!

That's what I normally do anyway, and it's my sister who worries about taking pictures at concerts! And my sister would most likely be with me at a Hayley concert, so if any pictures were to be taken, it would be her taking them!

Hello Katie! I'm so pleased you're going to see Hayley live for the first time. I'm sure you will enjoy the show, and I hope you get the chance to meet her too. Best wishes, Richard

Joe, Libby, and Richard--Thanks for the comments. I am very excited for this show.
I will report back after the concert. I will be taking a small point and shoot camera, so if the moment arises I will snap a quick picture. I haven't had trouble getting a small point and shoot into concerts in the past--I usually just over clutter an oversized purse on purpose and wrap the camera in a sweater or something. I've never had them dig far enough down to find the camera.

Coats with poacher's pockets are wonderful. I have not only used one to conceal a camera, but even a monopod! Unless they do a pat down search, they wouldn't find it. And as Dave says, I tend not to do much in the first half of a show if there are rules about photography. And I never take photographs if the artist says "no photography" as some do. But the nearer you get to the end of the show, the bolder you can be.

The problem with coats, Martin, is that June is normally a warm month, although you may get by with a light jacket. I have no idea what poacher's pockets are, though! Most venues don't allow you to bring your own water in; you have to buy it from them. So, I manage to smuggle small water bottles in my coat pockets that have zippers. But they don't fit in my lighter jacket's pockets. I had to buy a bottled water at the Josh Groban concert last summer because, although I did bring my jacket, I didn't actually wear it, and my own bottle wouldn't fit in the pockets. I just can't survive a whole show with no water at all to drink. Do the venues in the UK ban outside beverages, as well? I think they should all allow people to at least bring water!

Hello Libby! Venues in the UK have various different rules. Some allow you to take drinks into the auditorium in plastic containers, while others ban them completely. I usually sneak a bottle of water in regardless. Richard

Poachers pockets are large pockets on the inside of a coat, usually above the hem. Traditionally I think used by poachers to conceal their takings. But easily able to contain a camera and other equipment.
Yes, June is a warm month here too. So is May, but today's maximun was 7.5 degrees C below average for mid May. So you never know - if it is 9C like today, you might feel you needed a coat.

Thanks for the information, Martin. I think my lighter jacket does have a very small pocket on the inside. But it isn't big enough for a bottle or a camera.
As for the smuggled water bottles, I try to only to take a drink when it's dark, but sometimes that's during the show, and you don't want to miss anything or mess around and disturb the people next to you.
