Hey all!! Glad to hear that everyone had an amazing time at the concert! I’m also glad at the prospect of Hayley being on a DVD for the first time in five years! Wish I could have gone. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Thanks for the pictures Tim. Paige I would have slept in a dumpster rather than missed meeting Hayley. I am just watching the "Guest" number rising in the Info Centre" Hello Guests and Lurkers EVERYWHERE hard to believe it is only a week since Hayley was here in Dublin, I still haven't recovered fully, still slightly dazed and humming Morricone I would have stayed but unfortunately for me, the grandparental can be lacking in understanding sometimes and insisted we get back to the hotel before we missed the shuttle (we could have easily taken a cab but that idea was soundly refused). Believe, I would have slept in the dumpster lol I was nearly in tears by the time we got to the hotel

Hi Paige,
The important thing is that you saw Hayley in concert. Don't dwell on anything else.
My first Hayley concert saw a similar disappointment after the show. Hayley had to rush off back to NYC so there was no signing. But a woman had an autograph; I asked her where Hayley was. Apparently there was a private meeting for PBS members pledging over $250. I must have missed something because I pledged about $300 for 4 tickets. But then word came round that the back door of the theatre might see Hayley departing. I stood looking at that door in a back alley in the pouring rain for thirty minutes. I regretted turning away from that spot.
So Paige, it just wasn't meant to be. Our time to meet Hayley will happen.

Oh, I hope there is a DVD! It's quite likely they'll leave out some performances when they show it on PBS, because they take up time with their pledge stuff. I don't really want to subscribe, though. I'd be happy to just buy it, but I don't need a subscription. What are the benefits of subscribing? I can watch PBS anytime I want.

Hello Libby,
I've 'liked' WGBH, the PBS station in Boston, Facebook page. Maybe they will have info on the production status of the DVD or broadcast schedule down the road.
Many of these DVDs include behind the scene interviews...maybe they have a segment with Hayley.
PBS is having a tough time in the money dept. Many states including mine have eliminated state funding for public TV, and measures in Congress threaten to cut federal funding. I do support my local station WVIA when I can...they give me so much in return, by means of discounts on amusement parks, museums, etc.

Yeah, personally I think it would be a tragedy if PBS went off the air. Where would I get to watch my weekly “Are You Being Served?” and “Keeping Up Appearences” episodes? I would LOVE IT if they put this concert on pledge drive! Then I would certainly support my local PBS channel -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif.

I know most of them by heart! My station no longer airs britcoms The shopPBS.org site might be good to watch for any new DVDs...although they never heard of Live from NZ.

Well, I certainly don't want PBS to go off the air, but I can't save everybody with my donations. I donate to charity organizations that help people in desperate living conditions and situations, and to me, that's a little more important. I'd like to do more things, but I'm not that rich. I'd be happy to make a one-time contribution in order to get the DVD, if there is one, but nothing more than that, at least until I win the lottery. Not that I've ever bought a ticket.

I love your last sentence! Also in total agreement with your whole point of view 'though I suspect you are more practically generous than I am. Well done. Peter S.

Hi devotedfan.
Fully sympathise with your disappointment but Joe rightly says, dwell on the good. Hayley is not always able to take the time she would like and often (okay we do have extraordinarily many chances generally speaking) we in the UK have often stood in the rain for only a glancing wave of hand. The concert is key and often all you have the hope to get with many artistes.

Peter, the show will probably air as part of a membership drive, a 3 or 4 time a year occasion lately, DVD's of the show (with deleted portions included!!!!) are offered as a gift for a subscription, I'll watch the schedule as best I can... I wasn't at Buxton ever but we attended the Stoke-on-Trent concert and another 1 or 2 that escape my poor memory,......I'll check later....TimJ Aah thanks for that Tim. I understand Libby's response better now. Peter S.

I would have given an update two days after the concert-the day after I was kind of sulking But we were still travelling/finishing our vaction in Boston and other parts of MA. And I didn't have reliable internet unfortunatly. Then I had to work when I got home. Sooooo...... First, I must say it was wonderful meeting both Tim and Katie!! I'm sorry if I talked a lot!!! I was just really really excited, and I get talkative when I get excited (and nervous, and tired, and I'll stop there ). But it was great both of you! Now, I guess I should maybe fill you all in as to my response (a little late nonetheless!). I was in the first row, like Katie. I thought I was going to be 5 rows back, but apparently the stage had to be extended so I was in the first row! I must say PBS/Horatio Alger Assoc. did a terrible job of introducing Hayley, as well as the other guest performers (excepting George Parris). I'm not even sure he introduced anyone else other than George Parris and of course Mario Frangoulis (which he almost mispronounced his name at first ), I can't remember exactly. But the concert began, Mario was obviously nervous. Who wouldn't be, knowing you had TV cameras on you from every angle Twice I thought he was about to introduce Hayley, and I think he was going to but it was too early or something. I kept watching for her to come out! I was so excited when she walked out on stage for the "A Hero Inside" duet. I thought she was a tad bit nervous for "Whispers in a Dream." Her vibrato was a little more pronounced than usual, like when a singer's nervous and her hands seemed to shake a little. But by the end of the song she seemed much better During Intermission, I'm pretty sure I met Jack. It was such brief meeting, we didn't talk much. My grandmother and I went to the bar to get glases of water-it was sooo hot all day! But I'm afraid I may not have given Jack the best impression of myself, I was slightly out sorts that day. I think a lot of it was the heat and wanting to meet Hayley. But he seemed very nice Also during Intermission, after we had returned to our seats, I was asked by a man and his son if I knew anything of "the young girl singer." So, naturally my response was something similar to "Oh yes!" He asked if she, Hayley, was the reason for my attendence. Of course it was! He asked me some questions about her and I answered, though he cut me off once or twice. That miffed me a little-he wanted to know about her! But I was just glad to tell someone new about her! Anyway, by the end of the converstion he asked what her name was at least 3 times He said before went back to his seat that "We'll have to check her out after this" and that made my 'miffed-ness' all worth it i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifWhen she came back on stage in the second act to sing the second duet with Mario she seemed much more comfortable overall. I forget the name of the song, I think it had 'muerte' in the title. The second duet I LOVED! I thought Hayley and Mario sounded lovely together, and the song had a different kind of style for Hayley. Then she sang "Summerfly", which I thought was a great way to end the show (well, it was before all the encores ). Before she began singing, she asked "Am I the only New Zealander here tonight?" One person in the second balcony jumped up, raising her hand. Hayley said "Oh hi!" or something like that and then jokingly with a big smile "What are you doing here?" Then she asked how many Greeks were there-a lot of hands were raised to which she chuckled. Then she asked how many Americans-quite a lot (though I think there were more Greeks!!). Here is when she introduced "Summerfly" as being for the Americans in attendence. "A little bit of country music" she said That's all for now, but I will probably be remebering a few more things over the next days. ~Paige

Thanks for your report, Paige. I'm sorry you didn't get to meet Hayley! I would be devastated too! But at least you got to see her up close! I'd love to do that someday! Oooh, so you think Whispers in a Dream was another of her slightly-off performances in the US? Is she forever doomed this way when she performs in the US? I don't like it when she adds so much vibrato to that song, either. I wish she would sing it like she did on the CD, with the light and ethereal mood, instead of the slow, heavy, emotional way she does so often. That's the way it should sound! But oh well, hopefully those who've never heard her before won't know the difference and will still think it's really good! I hope the PBS showing shows all her songs! I would guess if they left out anything, it would be one of her solos, since it was Mario's show. I don't believe I know the proper pronunciation of his name, either. Hey, so do you think the Greeks in the audience weren't Americans, and came all the way from Greece, to see him? I wouldn't think they'd need to do that. Aren't they Greek-Americans? If they're citizens of America, technically they're Americans! All Americans originate from somewhere other than America, even if it was a couple hundred years ago! Anyway...
