i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I took half a day off work to go to this concert.
Diamond Harbour is a small town across the harbour from Lyttleton.
The concert was in the small community hall near to where Godley house was and it started at 4pm.
There was a full house of about 100 people including some of Fiona's students.
When the stage curtain opened we could see Ian Tilley on the Keyboard, Peter Fleming on the Double Bass and Mike Ferrar on the Guitar.
Then Fiona appeared to enthusiastic applause (a common theme throughout the concert). Fiona was wearing a white floral patterned frock with red knee high boots.
The concert opened with the new song on the Feeling CD, My Pal The Gypsy.
Then the title track of the album , Feeling , a hauntingly beautiful song written in Japan.
Then straight into the fast paced Tangissimo.
Willow Tree is one of my favourites. You can lose yourself in the music and you cannot help yourself watching Fiona play the violin. Just as well Fiona allows the other band members to have their own solos. Mike is a great guitarist.
Calm After The Storm is very emotional as it was written about the earthquakes.
Barnaby Jackson livens up the audience being as fast paced as her dog, Barnaby lol.
Pizzicato Rumba is another lovely song from the new album.
The first half finished with Limehouse Blues .
We had a 20 minute break so I went to the local store and had a lovely ice cream. I then saw the sad sight of the vacant lot where the Godley House once stood. It was badly damaged in the February earthquake and was demolished. This was where Fiona and Ian got married.
I saw fellow member John. He was assisting with the concert and he also filmed it so it should be on You Tube later. He also gave me the set list so I didn't have to rely on my memory.
The second half opened with another new swing song from the album called Full Moon.
Another swing song was Them There Eyes.
James was as near to a pop song as Fiona does lol.
Two Irish themed songs followed which were This Land and the famous Memories Of Martin and Mary.
The Sunrise Sunset song from Fiddler On The Roof was great.
Then my all time favourite Cathedral Tango was beautifully played.
The concert finished with Czardas.
For the encore they played Dark Eyes after which the band received a standing ovation.
Later I met Ian and Fiona and I said I will see them later at the Ashburton Concert next month.
