Well, we are coming to the end of 2011. A magnificent year for Hayley I'm sure you'll agree. We saw the release of Paradiso, many radio and TV appearances all over the world, and Hayley sining in every continent except South America and Antarctica (think Australasia).
So waht ae you personal memories of this year of followong Hayley.
For me I have to start with the only live Hayley concert I saw this year. It is several years since there was only one. In fact, thinking about it, it is the only year there was only one.
And that was Kings Lynn, where with another 700 odd fortunate people, I saw a fabulous performance by Hayley - with a very eclectic setlist including even a Chinese song!!
It hardly seems enough. Yet we also had the Rugby World Cup. We had the first New Zealand tour for years. We had the Christchurch earthquake, and Hayley's performances at the memorial services in London and Cristchurch. She eventaully got involved with Sir Terry Wogan, after many years of me hassling him on Hayley's behalf. She visited Taiwan 3 times. She sang with Andrea Bocelli, Mario Fangoulis, Daniel Boys, Rhydian, Jai MacDowell and Roland Villazon. She appeared on Friday Night is Music Night, singng classical songs from the movies such as "The Deadwood Stage". She appeared in the Royal Variety Performance.
Our Hayley has been a very busy girl.
Feel free to add your own personal memories in this thread.

Martin, I'm glad you chose to focus on the positive thing in 2011. I wish I could do the same. As I see it, the elephant in the room is that 2011 was an impossibly tragic year for Hayley's hometown of Christchurch, and the fact that she wasn't selected to sing at the Royal Wedding is most unfortunate. Add to this the knowledge that "Paradiso" might be excluded from Grammy consideration because they eliminated the classical crossover category. But other than all that, it was truly a splendiferous year for Hayley and her fans! (But you know me, I like to see both sides now.)

So, when did she sing in Africa?? Chris would've told us if she did, I'm sure. Seeing Hayley on my own TV, on American TV stations, were the highlights for me. The Memorial Day service in WA DC, and the Rugby World Cup. And of course, Paradiso. I like the album very much, whether it sold as well as it should have or not. I wouldn't have expected Hayley to get a Grammy nomination. It's never happened before. I would have been very surprised. On the other hand, there should at least be CBA nomination... and a win!! The Royal Wedding thing does not disappoint me anymore. What recognition she would get from an exclusive wedding party wouldn't have been that significant. Sure, it would have been nice to have her name mentioned briefly, but I don't recall much of a big deal over the girl who did sing. Well, not living in England, I suppose I wouldn't see much about her, but still. It would have been a nice honour for her, though, but it wouldn't have even been televised, so what good would that have done?

You left out the Royal Variety Performance which may yet televise on a US public network. Very subtle but I think the look Princess Anne gave to Hayley after she had sung the National Anthem with the Fanfare trumpeters spoke volumes of the regard with which she is held in Royal circles. That can only do her long-term good for the future. Look at the clips on HWI to see what I mean and that recording will/is world tour/ing. Peter S.

Hi Libby,
I suppose Malta isn't that far away from Africa!!
And I forgot to mention Chase Douglas among her duet partners. Not as well know as the others for sure, but one day, who knows!!
And yes, those of us fortunate enough to see Hayley live have to put that top of the list.
