Remind me to refrain from admitting what I know and don't know around here.

Here is the info on this year's guest artists at the Christmas concerts... I might have to pass this year. I'll only watch if Ernie & Bert are included. LOL
I think it's only a matter of time before Jackie Evancho is chosen, and I'm sure it'll be before Hayley.

Perhaps. Does Jackie have a Christian faith? Maybe being a Mormon helps. But the Muppets?

This year's guest is Rolando Villazon, who we know from Hayley's last appearance on the Royal Variety Performance (2011?). I don't even remember who was supposed to be on last year, and I have not watched it since 2014 when Alfie's performance was aired (from the 2013 concert). I'm still holding out hope that Hayley will be on eventually, and I've thought of writing to them again (I did 6 years ago now). If she ever is on, I will try my best to be able to go, but I hope it happens when it works out the best for me to go. I was thinking that I didn't really feel like travelling this December, but I would have done it for Hayley.

Hello Libby! I saw that on Facebook yesterday, so I'll share the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's post: Click on the embedded post to see a long video about 'Messiah'. Richard

It's been more than 8 years since I wrote to them. I did receive a response, and it was a positive response that expressed strong interest in having her on. I have to wonder if they may have invited her at some point, but maybe her schedule just never worked out right.
I'm thinking of sending them another letter. As quiet and discouraging as things have been lately, I still have a tiny bit of hope left. She's in America... or, I should say, she's working in America now (I expect she'll be coming back after the holidays). Since she doesn't have much else going on these days, yet still seems open to a few concerts once in a while, I wondered if now would be as good a time as any. By now, I mean next year, of course. The latest one already happened, and it was to include Kristin Chenoweth.
So, I opened my old letter, which I sent back in summer 2010, and used most of the original as a base. I just tweaked and updated things a bit. I'm thinking of mailing it sooner rather than later. I'm guessing by summer, they are already planning the concert. Who knows, maybe they're already planning next years?
Any thoughts? I suppose it certainly can't hurt, and I'd be interested in what they have to say about it after all these years.
I've always said I would want to go if she were in it, but I'm not even sure you can purchase tickets after they announce the year's performer. Also, from what I've seen, it's a first come, first serve kind of thing, where you have to put in a request to receive tickets. And apparently thousands of requests are sent in each year. I just looked on their website, and it said that there is a "standby line", where if you get there extra early, you stand in that line, and they'll seat you in the tabernacle, and will seat people inside the Conference center (where the concert is actually held) to fill any empty seats. You would still get to sit and see it on big screens if you did not make it inside, although that would be very disappointing. I don't think I would make the effort to go if I did not receive tickets, as it would not be worth the trouble and effort for "maybe". I might as well stay home and watch it on TV the next year!
Well, we'll see.

I think I will. Also, I just realized next season, it will be the 10th anniversary of Winter Magic!!! All the more reason to send it! Of course I'll wait till the holiday season dies down, but I've pretty much got the letter written, so not really any reason to delay. I watched some of this year's airing as well, but I couldn't endure Sutton Foster for long. She was okay at first, but her voice is not exceptional, and putting too much talky-acting dramatics into it, that it was somewhat annoying. They seem to be choosing a lot of broadway performers the past few years. Also, the last 3 times it's been a lady, so I have to wonder if they'll choose a man for next year. But I'll still send the letter. I looked at the CD/DVD of last year's performance, and although they only showed about 4 or 5 of Sutton's songs on TV, she sang 9 songs total (including the staple, Angels from the Realms of Glory that they all must sing). It's really tough, but if I could only hear 4 songs from Hayley on the TV broadcast of the choir, I would choose Veni Veni Emmanuel, Peace Shall Come, Silent Night, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. However, I would also hope she would sing Coventry Carol. The Little Road to Bethlehem isn't amazing vocally, but it's different, and the MTC seems to like different songs. So that would be a possibility. Another song that came to mind was Over the Rainbow. Sutton sang a song from Willy Wonka, and Alfie Boe sang Bring Him Home. Hayley sang OTR at the concert in Madison, and explained why she associates it with Christmas, so I think this could be a good choice. It's a classic everyone knows, and one she blows people away with her incredible vocals (she does the same with Have YAMLC).
