I think we should quit worrying about medals and give praise for all the talented and disciplined young athletes for all their hard work and dedications to their sport and their home countries. They have provided us with a great deal of entertainment for the last two weeks. For that we should be thankful. They are all winners there are no losers.

I was very disappointed that McKayla fell, because of course I wanted her to win. But she got the silver medal! That's not bad at all! Also disappointed that Gaby messed up on the bars and the beam yesterday, but she's so young and probably had a lot of pressure on her after winning the all-around gold. Too bad she couldn't have gotten a medal in either event though. But how about Aly Raisman winning gold in the floor exercise last night? Her routine is amazing! Watch here: www.nbcolympics.com/video/gymnastics/highlights-aly-raismans-gold-medal-floor-exercise-routine.htmlIt totally made up for her disappointing 4th place finish last week, and the slightly uncomfortable drama of filing an inquiry for her to get the bronze for balance beam. Yes, she really deserved a medal for the beam, but it just made it look desperate for them to have to force it out of the judges. Hmm, so now she has 2 individual medals, plus the team all-around gold! So, it appears she has more medals out of any of the other girls! 2 gold and one bronze! McKayla got a silver and gold (team gold), and Gabby got 2 gold, but only one was individual. They all were spectacular in the all-around, so they all earned their golds there, I think. Yay, Aly!!

Did nobody notice that the thick mat was moving when the gymnast hit it in their dismount which caused a very untidy finish. Very hard to trust a surface that moves when you land on it.

I never noticed that. Was it like that all throughout the Olympics? Maybe that's why so many girls messed up!

Good for NZL!!! Women got 2nd in the BMX bike race! Pretty cool to watch. Also, Aus. Zealand is now 5th in the medal count with 43! One ahead of Germany. And, learned something REALLY cool today: The 2nd best athlete in the world, the guy that got 2nd in the decathlon, grew up and lives only about 20 miles from here in Vestavia Hills!! Awesome. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Great scenes for Katie Taylor's gold medal win in the Boxing.
Ireland have 3 Boxing medals (Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlan both won Bronze), and another chance of a gold medal with John Joe Nevin. Congratulations to all.

So sad the Olympics are over! Well Done London! The UK has had quite a couple of years with the Royal Wedding, then the Jubilee, and then the Olympics. Team GB seemed to have performed superbly too! Mo Farah might be my favorite from Team GB. Also NZ did great! They really dominate the rowing.
As for any American posters here, I really wish ABC could take over from NBC. Their "Wide World of Sports" used to be awesome. NBC is just not so good. I did however cry like a baby watching the that closing montage of the Fab/Fierce 5 gymnastics team. Never thought a team could garner my affection as much as the Mag 7 in '96 but these girls were just charming and adorable as a team.
Rio looks like it will be a blast but first Bring on Sochi 2014!

That was really cool seeing Raven at the closing ceremonies! However, I did not AT ALL get the giant blow up octopus. I did, however, really like the Brazilians part, especially Bachianas. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
