I'll take a look around locally in the next day or two. I am not a great movie enthusiast but this one really does interest me, and not only because of Hayley's involvement. I will report back as soon as I find it... but if the availability of the book is anything to go by, I could be gone some time! Roger

Hi Everyone,
What an interesting looking film, this really interests me. Also, what an appropriate film for this past year.
I'm a little skeptical, it reminds me of 'The Day After Tomorrow' which I personally thought was very disappointing but it does look interesting so I might invest in this myself, it would be interesting to hear Hayley on it too.

I don't know how the price compares to other stores, but the DVD can be bought at tesco.com for £13.97, or £15.61 including the delivery charge. However, from Tesco Jersey (link from the same page), it is only £12.97 as there is no VAT payable in Jersey and it includes the delivery charge! Roger

...and virginmegastores.co.uk have it for £12 including delivery! It is in stock and is usually despached within 24 hours. However, it ships from Guernsey, so again no VAT, but may therefore take an extra day to reach mainland UK addresses. Roger

Hi Roger,
That is pretty good, I don't think that we are going to get much better than that at the moment.
I usually buy my DVD's and CD's from play.com (they are based in Jersey for the reasons you state - free delivery too) they have it listed for £14.99 at the moment but I might leave it a month and they will drop it to around £5 as they do with most DVDs.

Hi Dave I was hoping to pick a copy up in ASDA this morning, but they didn't appear to have it Great news about its chart position though. Best wishes Grant Hi Grant and Roger and Dazza, well everyone! My semi-local big ASDA did not have the DVD but I did mention to the assistant that I could hardly believe their buying Dept had missed out on the no. 6 best selling DVD in the UK! Someone's head must roll at ASDA! The (smaller) branch of Sainsburys did have the DVD, at #25 in their chart for £13.97 so I bought it, well done Sainsburys. I would imagine that the larger Tesco stores will have it too. I would be very interested to hear about its avaiulablility and charts placement in London Supermarkets etc., I suspect that it will be selling a lot of copies there. One problem I have with all movies of this kind is that I notice too many inconsistencies and scientific inaccuracies - and I certainly include The Day After Tomorrow - and Flood - in this. But I have learned to ignore all these things and just let the storyline take over. It wasn't in the Star Wars class by any means but as lowish budget "TV movie" (as conceived) it wasn't at all bad and I'm glad I bought it. Especially because Hayley's voice is an important part of it! Anyway, I have just finished watching it. It was quite good actually, in spite of some critical reviews on Amazon, and I enjoyed it. It was sad enough in places to bring a few tears to my eyes and I noticed Hayley singing very clearly and beautifully on 4 occasions for between 30 seconds and one minute each, including at the very end - starting before the end titles came up. All were at poignant moments, it was especially, a lovely way to end the film. I also heard her on a fifth occasion, for a couple of seconds. I am sure some people who have never heard Hayley before will be struck by the sound of her voice and there is no way they can miss her at the end. But to find out who she is they will have to wade through several minutes of densely packed end credits, however, she is certainly in the credits - right next to the RPO. Yep, as a film, I liked it and Hayley was a lovely bonus (but I tend to like this kind of movie anyway). Debbie Wiseman's soundtrack as a whole was very well done (especially when you realise the limited budget she had). It certainly benefits from having big speakers and a proper amplifier turned up loud, rather than a feeble computer sound system. There's some great low bass on there! But... it's low budget, remember that... so don't expect too much of this (apart from Hayley!). Cheers, Dave

Hello Dave and everybody! There are plenty of copies of the DVD available in HMV and the Virgin Megastore in Oxford Street, so I'll buy it soon. It costs £15 in Virgin, but it's £16.95 in HMV at the moment. Best Wishes, Richard

I have just been to my local Tescos and Sainsburys, neither of whom have the DVD in stock. According to the Sainsburys chart, it is No 10 but, in that position is an empty space. Tescos are not even displaying their chart but all places from 1 to 30 are full, and Flood is not amongst them. Hmph! Roger

Hi Roger, It looks like most of the shops have been taken by surprise by its popularity - but you'd have thought they'd have realised by now! That's the trouble when shops start to believe the pre-release reviews (which were awful - see here) they can get caught out and have done. Hopefully the last laugh will be with Flood, confirmation of that excellent UK DVD chart position #6 is here at Yahoo. They are fools, the lot of them!!! and I bet the shops who didn't stock it are kicking themselves! Cheers, Dave

Hi Everyone, This arrived today and I watched it earlier this evening. It reminded me of a cross between 'The Day After Tomrrow' (climate affected disaster movie) and '28 Weeks Later' (I think this is mainly because of Robert Carlisle in deserted tube stations i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif ) Due to mixed reviews I wasn't really expecting too much, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I thought that it was quite enjoyable and moved at a good pace too. As far as the storyline goes it is your typical disaster movie, although it is not totally unrealistic for something like this to happen (especially when you take this past year into account) and I think that is what this movie focuses on, it is the message that I got from it. It is never going to be a big hitter at a cinema or break any records, and is certainly not going to be sitting among my favorite films, far from it, but for what it is I thought that it was a good movie that was worth buying. As for the music and singing from Hayley, I thought that it was simply beautiful, even if you wont like the movie it is worth buying the DVD just for that. i am considering buying the soundtrack just on the strength of that. It was wonderful. Dazza

Roger Hi Roger and everyone, Well belatedly, Tesco Extra have now included Flood in their DVD chart and it's no. 16 which isn't bad at all. However... they are still underestimating the demand because it is the only DVD in their top 30 to have sold out! But the most amazing thing of all is this news item today, from the BBC - if you don't believe me (which you might not!) click on the link !!! This is exactly the scenario predicted in "Flood" with the only difference being that this time, they expect the Thames Flood Barrier (which has been closed) to contain it. The worst North Sea tidal surge since 1953 is predicted. The Netherlands are monitoring their sea dykes for the first time since 1976. As Victor Meldrew would say (for UK members) " I do NOTTTTT belieeeeve ittt!!!" The makers of this movie must be rubbing their hands with glee (but on a more serious note, I hope nobody is harmed by this). Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave and everyone,
This storm situation was just on the news over here. I do hope the residents heed the warnings.
Victor Meldrew indeed (that was one of his clean exclamations!)

Hi Everyone, Wow, I have just seen the news. Quite scary that this happens so soon after watching this movie. I hope that everybody living in the risk zones are able to stay safe. Dazza

Hi Dazza, Joe and everyone, Fortunately, it seems, the storm surge was angled slightly away from the South East coast and the winds died down little...and the surge was just under a foot lower than anticipated. It did reach the exact top of the sea walls in parts of East Anglia and poured over - but only minor flooding resulted and no serious injuries have been reported. More serious flooding seems to have occurred tonight in Germany as the surge ran up the Rhine. I think all Countries around the North Sea have strengthened their flood defences and warning/evacuation procedures since the similarly high tides in 1953. But the timing could not have been better for the Flood DVD - I went to ASDA this evening and they now have it fully in stock - and they have placed it at no. 5 in the main DVD chart.. This means that all major supermarkets near me now have it in their chart (belatedly!) although yesterday, two had sold out. And let us not forget that what's good for Flood is also very good for Hayley! Cheers, Dave
