Hi everyone!! Here are some screen shots of my videos from the ChCh concert! Sorry they are a bit rough - but I just wanted to quickly upload something to brighten up this thread a bit! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I'll try to get the videos to you soonish - but seeing as a huge fuss has been made about this concert, I don't want to rush them. Hi Jillian, we're in Invercargill on a rainy day so had a look here & 'voila'. Jillian, I am very excited to see your videos!! Don't worry about I Dreamed a Dream. I can be happy with Martin's video. Interesting that dress. Why is its colour called 'nude'? Yes, her skin is alabaster and it tones with that beautifully but I always thought that sort of dress colour was referred to as 'champagne' much more dignified for Hayley. Peter S. Peter, I've been wondering the same thing! I think Jillian called it champagne, and I think that's a much better way to describe it. I'm just not crazy about using the word nude as a color. That color can be quite variable, so I don't even consider it accurate. Skin colors that are considered "nude" are usually more tan or beige, at least when you're shopping for nylons. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Graeme, you mean, I Knew I Loved You and Vivo Per Lei? There are several new gorgeous songs. La Califfa? Whispers in a Dream? I can't figure out what Never Knew Love at All could be... Oh, wait, there's a line from Both Sides Now: "I really don't know love, at all. " Wow, Graeme, some Hayley fan you are! (I'm just teasing you, just so you know. )

"People throw rocks at things that shine" - Taylor Swift. Has a great way with words, that girl. She's right, too. We should take all the rock throwing as a sign that Hayley shines very brightly indeed. Or.. with apologies to Bob Dylan "But I mean no harm, nor fear for the souls Of people who lick toilet bowls But it's all right Hayley, if you can't please them" Martin D

I think my final word on the matter (Or final for now, at least! ) really comes down to this: If someone asked me to write a review of a concert for an artist or genre I knew I did not like, I would ask them to send someone else on the grounds that there was no possibility I could create a proper review. If forced to review despite my protests, I would start with a disclaimer saying I am not a fan of the act and/or the genre, and still do my best to be fair, regardless. In this way, my readers would at least have proper warning. This, to me, is integrity. Deliberately reviewing an artist you know you hate with no attempt to be fair and no disclaimer I would consider beneath me, and unworthy of a gentleman. No more need be said, I am sure. Completely agree but part of being a professional critic--and clearly Sell is not, he is an academic, not a practising journalist--should be the ability for total professionalism. To what you rightly say I would add that a part of the criticism would be to show that the audience demonstrated they had indeed received all that they had bought tickets for. It is the omission of their delight that so skews Sell's view as to be deliberate misrepresentation of the event. To bring a little levity I recall (yonks back now) a local critic's report on how marvelous the local drama group had been in their latest production. Unfortunately, he failed to mention that the theatre caught fire during the second Act and was evacuated. Having missed the theatre fire he was engulfed in his own being fired from the paper for not being there. Must have been Sell's father and perhaps Sell would have written a better report had he not been there either, although I think it fairly obvious he is way beyond his sell-by date. Peter S.

Hello Peter! I think we've had enough discussion about David Sell now, so your post can be the last word on the subject, please everybody. Many thanks, Richard
