Hello everyone! I am a very new fan of Hayley's as I have explained in my "Welcome" thread. I have been looking into purchasing one of Hayley's "regular" albums first instead of going the normal route of getting the "greatest hits" album. This being said, which of her albums would be a good first album to kick everything off? And second, which is the best version of each of her albums? I looked on wikepedia last night, and my eyes got so crossed trying to figure which version would give me the bang for my buck. I may down the line-way down the line- start collecting all the various versions, but for now, I just want to get the best one. Thank you so much for your help!!! Alicia

Hi Alicia and welcome. There is a long list of albums and versions to choose from for sure. The obvious and simplest choice of album right now is Paradiso, which should be very easy to get, although if you are in the USA you might have to wait until it is released in early October. Second choice would probably be Pure, although that is not a good reflection of where Hayley is now, being 8 years old. But if you plan to start a collection of Hayley's albums, it would be a good starting point. As for which version of Pure, that's when things start to get complicated. But there is a 2 disc version (UK Special Edition) which I think has all the tracks from all the versions for £3.99 on Amazon UK. www.amazon.co.uk/Pure-Hayley-Westenra/dp/B00068V37K/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1315047783&sr=1-2That is plenty of bang for buck, but if you are outside the UK you may have to add postage. Hi,
I agree with Martin, Paradiso is amazing and Pure would be a great start as I think it is a perfect classical crossover album- the 2 disc edition is v.good for the extra CD which has great songs.
I personally love her Japanese albums- Hayley Sings Japanese Songs 1 and 2 and the Japanese version of Odyssey which has 2 amazing tracks- My Heart Belongs To You and The Mummer's Dance which are hard to find else where, however these tend to be more expensive and I'm not sure how easy they are to get, but they are very good!

Yes indeed Susie, there is no bigger fan of Hayley's Japanese albums than me. But they are close to 10 times the price of Pure, although I consider them worth every penny. I think you can still get all of the Japanese albums through CDJapan. But CDs are expensive in Japan, and as I have suggested elsewhere, Japanese versions of even her international albums tend to be different to those availble elsewhere. Otherwise it would be cheaper for Japanese people to import than than to buy them locally.

Hi Martin,
I know what you mean about price, maybe a new Hayley fan would not want to spend as much, however I do think the Japanese version of Odyssey is the best one, as for Treasure I only have the UK version and I'm not sure about the ones called Celtic Treasure and what the difference is.

postscript: Thank you for the warm welcome! @ Susie and Martin: Thank you for the help! And yes, Martin I do live in the States, but that does not stop me from buying imported CDs! I have imported a dozen or so CDs from other artists I admire, and I don't mind doing so for Hayley's albums if that means I get more songs. Thank you Martin for the link for the Pure 2-CD set (UK Special Edition)! I will be get it! And I agree about the Japanese editions, they are expensive. Close to 45-50 USD at the prices I have seen for other albums. So the Japan CDs will have to wait unless I find a deal on ebay or amazon. However, I am pretty sure they are great records though! Lastly, Martin you mentioned Paradiso as an obvious option, however is ti worth trying to find a copy of the Japan edition? I see it has a DVD included with 2 bonus tracks. Could those tracks be found on other albums or are they exclusive to this edition? Thank you all for the help! Take care, Alicia

Hi Alicia,
The bonus tracks and DVD are not available on any other version so far released.
I might have to get that one too. But I'll wait and see after all the versions are released.
I bought the NZ version becuase it was the first to be released. But if they had all come out together, I might have gone for Japan instead.
Incidentally, the World in Union single was released in the UK today.
