Sorry for the double post, but I'm much much, VERY much disappointed that this is exactly the same recording of Nov 2nd 2008 Songs of Praise, Only with a different video...., www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS0acl9mRS4&feature=relatedI am very very sad, because let me be very honest, her recording 3 years back is MUCH MUCH better than any of the recent recordings, ANY, even the ChCh memorial performance..., I was actually VERY happy when I heard this version because I particularly didn't like the performance which came with the Paradiso recording...which had the more light (childish?) tone. I didn't think I'll ever say this, but I'm not really happy with the change in voice/style over 3 years....(2 years actually) for these kind of songs, ofcourse for songs like Amalia por amor and such (but wait, that too I'm not entirely sure, this voice has enough power already, perhaps even more bold, so I don't know how it would've sounded...) some poppy songs from the Japanese album, this sounds really fitting, but I don't know. Forgive me for my overreaction, I'm just really sad....

I agree about the recording on the Japanese version, but I think her performance at the ChCh memorial was her most powerful performance of the song as far as emotion.

Hi Simba,
I too am disappointed that they re-used an old recording. I would have preferred a new one, even though the old one is superb.
Nothing is permanent except change. We still have those recordings from 3 years ago if you prefer them. And I agree, that was a wonderful performance on SOP.
But things move on. Her interpretation of songs and her versatility I think have improved enormously since then. And her live performances get better and better - I have had the privilege of watching this happen over the years.
That is why it is important to record as much of Hayley's career as we can. HWI has a huge repository of information and viseo performances of a great artist. It is work well worth doing. Like all great artists, Hayley is forever looking for new directions and new ways to improver herself. Long may that continue.

I guess so , who knows she might in the end make an album incorporating all her singing styles throughout her career till now, all I need to know is if she 'could' still sing like that, and that it's only her choice to sing this way. If that's the case I'd be very happy (I think she most probably can XD)

A bit of background information. I took a few photos whilst I was in Salisbury Cathedral the other day. Those who don't know it might be interested. Salisbury Cathreal is a very beautiful building. It has the tallest spire in England (404 feet if I remember correctly) The cloisters are also said to be the largest in England Martin D

OK, let's go inside... Salisbury Cathedral houses the oldest working clock in the world. You might recognise this next location from the SOP video. This is where Hayley was standing Martin D

Hello MartinD,
Thanks for sharing your photos from your recent visit to Salisbury Cathedral.
One must be overwhelmed at the magnificiency and sheer history of the place! I believe there are two cedar trees sat in the middle of the cloisters green.
How stunning it must sound, listening to Hayley's voice bounce from every pillar and stonework.

Hi Martindn.
Superb photos, Martin. I think it important to give background for overseas members so, KIWIS, please remember background shots when you give us you NZ tour Hayley reports.

Just had a chance to watch this video. I had never seen the 2008 version before or heard this recording, so I think it sounds very very beautiful!

Hi Jim,
Thanks for that information, it's good to see that Hayley is still a S of P regular, albeit repeated this time. I missed the original broadcast too so had to copy it at slightly lower quality than usual, from the BBC iPlayer - but as I also missed yesterday's broadcast, I would have had to do the same, if I hadn't already done it.
Cheers, Dave

This performance of Amazing Grace has just been repeated on Songs of Praise. This is, to my knowledge, the second time they have repeated this. The previous one was Songs of Praise (BBC2) 22 July 2012. I wish the BBC would record a few more songs with Hayley so we get some variety. This time Amazing Grace was requested so I am pleased it was Hayley's recording that was used. After all it is the best. Well of course Hayley's recording is iconic and special. Of course they want to repeat it. There is no better version. And it is one of Hayley's theme songs. The one she sings though pain and distress. She has performed it so many times. It is a healing song. And the one she is best known for in Japan at least.
