I didn't recognise the recording - so it was a new one. She sang it beautifully I have to say. Yes it was Amazing Grace, but a superb performance of it. It is going to be hard to choose my favourite performance of this hymn even from this year to put in my highlights CD in December - but I still think Hagley Park will win it.
She wore the white Reiss dress. And looked (and sounded of course) like an angel....
Hope somebody recorded it. If not, I'll have to suck it off iPlayer.

A good job I checked here before starting to download and extract it myself (actually, I would just have recorded it as it played - saves a lot of hassle). I think it is too good a performance not to preserve, even if we do have dozens of vids of Amazing Grace. I loved it. Looking forward to it appearing here.

WOW WOW WOW! OMG!!!! Was that seriously recorded at the time of the video making?! I mean is this a recent performance?! Because Hayley sounds so awesome! BEST Amazing grace version ever! I mean, The oldest ones were okay, but kinda too operatic and less emotional, the recent ones were very emotional but the voice wasn't as bold and strong, but this is like PERFECT! Seriously, flawless....And the piano Accompaniment, oh how much I longed for an Amazing grace version with JUST piano! This was truly truly amazing. Before I clicked play, I was like, this is just another performance, but this was truly EPIC.....
PLEASE put it on Youtube! People will OBVIOUSLY realize how far hayley has come! They need to enjoy it as much as I did!
EDIT: Please don't tell me this was an earlier recording....(years back..) XD I'm actually really happy that Hayley can still sing in this voice as well! Which is amazing. Which has gotten much better too!

It is not any of the commercial recordings that I recognise, and I think it must have been done for SOP. Not sure that she was recording it in situ though - we didn't see the pianist. The dress limits the dates she could have recoded the video, and I suspect that the audio was dome around the same time, maybe even the same day.
I agree with Simba that it is a great performance.

She skipped the 3rd verse. Lately she had been leaving out the last verse, but I loved the way she sings the word "come" in "we have already COOOMMMMEEE!" Especially at the CHCH memorial service. I guess the note is the same in the other verses too, but the word in that note makes a different, but also the emotion she put into that particular word... about the "toils and snares". Oh well.

Please put it up on Youtube, XD I'll like it and comment it immediately like I always do and share it with many XD....and if someone can upload an mp3 of the original recording, I'll be like really really really happy, because I'm sure I'd be listening to this particular performance for ever.... Libby: Same thoughts! Atleast we had Bright shining as the "Suuuuuuuuuuuun" almost rhymes with "Cooooooome" But not as great I guess XD EDIT: I'd also like to point out that, even though hwvid has 5 videos of amazing grace, all of them are live performances, and this happens to be the first official music video'ish version of Amazing Grace with her lip syncing to a professionally shot video, that too in a cathedral....and this is the best performance yet in my opinion....so I think that's enough reasons to put it up on youtube  |
