There is a charming 12 minute interview with Hayley on this radio station, link below. I chuckled when I saw the interview intro on the BBC website: "Hayley Westenra popped into BBC Hereford and Worcester to have a Pie and a Pint with Tony Fisher and to talk about the influences for her album Treasure." Needless to say that Hayley opted for a glass of NZ red wine rather than the pint! www.bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester/realmedia/radio/hayley_westenra.ram You will need Real Player to listen. Martin

Hi Martin,
Many thanks for the two exceptionally good interviews. Inevitably, parts of them covered familiar ground but it was interesting to hear her talking about the Il Divo tour and her experiences whist recording for Disney, etc.
It was also evident that Hayley sounds far more comfortable when giving radio interviews than she did a year or two ago. I guess she's had plenty of practise!

Hi Martin, It was also evident that Hayley sounds far more comfortable when giving radio interviews than she did a year or two ago. I guess she's had plenty of practice! Roger Hi Roger I agree, Hayley is becoming more and more confident and relaxed giving interviews. It was interesting to hear in the interview that she felt more nervous performing in front of a small audience than at a large concert. I noticed this at Savill Court last year but to put it into perspective her nervousness only lasted about two minutes! Martin

Many thanks for those two superb interviews, Martin! I noticed the two presenters had quite different personalities, but Hayley was clearly equally comfortable talking to both of them, and responded accordingly. She's so experienced now she's becoming a veteran in these interviews. Have you got any more while RealPlayer's up in the Internet Café? Definitely two for Radio HWI, please Dave! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI've amended the title to include Gloucester. Edit: I've found two photographs from Radio Gloucestershire! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifJohn Rockley with Hayley Westenra Hayley Westenra in the photo booth! Best Wishes, Richard

Yes Richard Here is a great Treasue promotional interview at BBC Radio Shropshire made on 25th Feb shortly after the GMTV appearance. www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/realmedia/2007/02/adrian_lacey_hayley_westenra.ram Also, the article that accompanies the interview with Adrian Lacey. WHO WAS THE FAN MENTIONED AT THE END? When Hayley met Adey 'Excuse the smell of hairspray.' Hayley's swatting the air to break up the clouds.
We were looking for a space at the London South Bank TV studios where she's just performed in which to conduct our interview, and we've landed on her dressing room.
Adrian Lacey and Hayley Westenra 'Are you doing that to get at me?' I jest. 'I suffer from hair envy.'
She playfully offers me some of her luscious ash blonde locks.
'You're going to do a Britney?' I say, referring to Ms Spears' recent head shaving. I feel instantly guilty as my interviewee knows something of the pressures that seem to be making Britney crack all too publicly.
Happily, Hayley Westenra seems centred, rooted in her family and friends - and very, very charming. I try not to let that last point put me off.
Keeping the small talk going a little longer, I set up my recorder and microphone. Then it's time for a spot of voice level, and she obliges with, '1, 2, 3...'
The convention is you don't go further than '10', so it's when she gets to '13, 14...' I realise I ought to be ready. To cover my embarrassment, I say, 'Sorry. I was just testing your maths.'
The interview finished and a couple of photos in the can, Hayley checks her look in the mirror again. She seems to be supercritical of what she sees. Like a fool, I try to reassure her, acknowledging that every woman I know tends to be similarly hard on herself.
'We girls are brought up to believe we always have to look good,' she says. It reminds me of that lyric, 'Keep young and beautiful, if you want to be loved.'
This thought is reinforced as we head down in the lift, and one of her management team says she has to look her best as 'there's paparazzi out there'.
'No - it's a fan,' corrects Hayley.
And there he is, snapping away as she gets into her car with the others. Strangely, he doesn't even say hello.
In a moment, the entourage makes off in the people carrier with blacked-out windows, heading into a cloudy London morning. Our star's on a world tour of Kent, Guildford and Southampton, then it's up to Northampton to stay overnight.
Ominously, the fan follows closely on his moped |

Many thanks Martin! I'm listening while I'm typing, and this is the best interview so far. I've changed the title again, so if you find any more... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifEdit: You didn't post the lovely photograph from the article, so I will! Adrian Lacey and Hayley Westenra Best Wishes, Richard

Thanks Richard - out of interest how is it done?
I can recommend this interview with Adrian from Radio Shropshire as the best of the three as it is very enlightening with Hayley talking about the future, her family and of course Treasure. Hayley even admits to looking at YouTube!
Well done Adrian for avoiding the "standard" type interview questions.

Hello Martin! To post a picture from a web page, right mouse click on the image and select 'Properties'. Then copy the URL in the small pop-up window, close the small window, and paste the URL into your post between image tags (fourth from the left in the bottom row). It will only work if the picture is a jpg or gif file. Note, I've just added the photographs from BBC Radio Gloucestershire to my last but one post. Richard

To post a picture from a web page, right mouse click on the image and select 'Properties'... Richard Hi Martin, What Richard says is true and simple enough to do but, if it ever disappears from the source, the link would be broken and the image on this forum would vanish. Better to save the picture and host it (as you have done for your avatar) and then post it as Richard described above. Roger

I love when she admits having just discovered Youtube - and giggles. I wonder if she had the curiosity to type "Hayley Westenra" in the search engine?

I love when she admits having just discovered Youtube - and giggles. I wonder if she had the curiosity to type "Hayley Westenra" in the search engine? If she does, as many here know, she will find several dozen of her own videos. The comments are sometimes interesting. In particular, the Phantom of the Opera videos where Hayley is heard (but not seen) singing Dark Waltz. Many of the comments are of the discovery variety, e.g., “who is the singer?” People are blown away by the dramatic effect that Hayley’s voice can deliver. And this is without even seeing her, which is a double sensory experience.
