Pure from my Aunt in Aus who like Hayley after I introduced her to Hayley! No just the regular Aus version, but the Christmas one with 20 tracks!!! Sadly, no Mummers Dance though, according to the iTunes list- but, according to the Pure list by Karsten, there's no Pure with 20 tracks! What version do I have???

Hi Northern Lights,
Congratulations, you have me baffled! I have the Australian Special Edition in front of me and it only has 19 tracks but it does include Mummers Dance. Clearly, you have something quite different. If you tell us the complete tracklisting, we may be able to identify it. I can't guarantee it though!

Hi,
Thanks for the information but I still can't identify it. It is certainly none of the seven versions that I have, and it is quite different to the Australian Special Edition.
I am intrigued now! In the very small print on the back, where does it say it was made? That doesn't guarantee it is a version from that country, but it is a good indicator. Also, try giving me the catalogue number. Maybe I can locate it from that.

Hello Roger, Northern Lights, Starbuck and everyone, It looks as though you are talking about the Pure special edition...you can easily find it in every major music stores in the UK. Mine has 20 tracks + the video of Pokarekare Ana (like yours, Starbuck). Not sure why you are so baffled about that, Roger? Stephany

Hi Folks.
The best way to verify which version you have is to check the Decca or Universal Number on the DISC itself. Preferably the one engraved into the silver side of the disc. This may also save you the time it takes to check the track listing every time.
With some of the 2 disc sets like Pure and Odyssey, quite often disc one is the same and disc two is the varied one depending on the region in which it was sold.
The number on the outside of the case may apply to the combination of the two discs within.

Not sure why you are so baffled about that, Roger? Hi Stephany, I am baffled because the track listing posted by Northern Lights is different to the UK S/E (mentioned by Monte) which I also have. The tracklisting is the same but in a completely different order and, as you say, the UK S/E includes a video track which Northern Lights didn't mention. Roger

To answer all your questions- my aunt got it on iTunes, so there's no number engraved in it/on the case.
As far as I can tell, there is no video track- on both iTunes track lists (printed and sent by her) it just gives the 20 tracks, and when I've listened to the end, there's no sound like a video's trying to play.
This version is also available on 7Digital, for what its worth!
This is the order that the papers say its in, and the last 5 and first 2 are certainly right! As I listen to more of it, I'll make sure the orders right.
Hope this helps/you'll be able to identify it, <3 Northern_Lights

Hi Northern Lights, Thanks for the additional information. I can now see your version on 7Digital. The release date shown is 30 November 2004 which is 15 days after the UK Special Edition was released. It appears to be a download version of that. As I said in answer to another question from tinmeigut earlier today, there will always be versions appearing that are slightly different to anything we have seen before. It seems you have one of them! Roger

Yay! I wonder if Karsten will add it to the Pure chart... Roger- you're song list's wrong again! Now you need to add that the 20 are one the UK S/E digital version!

Hi Northern Lights, I know I said I had included digital versions but I only really meant the songs that were not available anywhere else (ie, on a CD). To include every version worldwide would be impossible and would probably make the list unmanageable. My main aim was to include every song and some examples of where it can be obtained fairly easily. I have to say I admire your enthusiasm though. Roger

As I listen to more of it, I'll make sure the orders right. Hope this helps/you'll be able to identify it, <3 Northern_Lights Hello Northern Lights and everyone, Before I read your latest comments, I was about to mention that the order of the tracks on the download version of UK Special Edition of Pure has changed since it was first issued, a new catalogue number is shown (4756425) and it is now simply called "Pure". I noticed this at classicsandjazz.co.uk about a month ago... but now I can see that not only the tracks order has changed! What is now available is 1) the Special Edition as originally issued in the UK (Tracks 1 to 13 from the original UK Pure and tracks 14 to 20 the bonus disc tracks without the video) and 2) A revised version with the same track listing and in the same order as as you have, Northern Lights. This is available in the UK and Australia as a download but not in the USA (I haven't checked NZ or other places). In the new version, the original UK "extended mix" version of Hine e Hine has been replaced by a shorter Acoustic Guitar version at the end (and there's a reason for this, see below!) This is possibly the version specially recorded for Classic FM radio in 2003, I don't yet know (but I can find out). Also, Dark Waltz is now shown in the UK version as as 4m 09s instead of 4m 19s but that could just be a typo (it's 4m 19s on the Australian version). One or two other tracks show up a few seconds different (less than 5 seconds) from the originals and similar slight differences exist between the UK download version and the Australian one but that could be down to how they count the track length (with or without the gaps) and rounding. Anyway, well done Northern Lights you have discovered a new version of Pure - possibly the final version - and I think this will eventually find its way onto a single CD version just called "Pure" (not special edition) - when stocks of the originals run out in the UK and Australia. It may already be available in some shops or online stores, who will be the first to find one?. Why do I think it will be a single CD 20 track version? Well the new UK download version has a total running time of 73m 59s (if I am right about the typo) and it just so happens that the maximum playing time of a standard CD is... 74 minutes. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif There would be no room for the video (but you can get it from iTunes). Mystery solved! (I think ) Cheers, Dave
