In the world of show biz you're always looking ahead, always planning your next move. For Hayley and her management team this is a big priority, even though there's plenty on their plate with releasing and promoting Paradiso. I'm sure there are several things in development or under consideration that will come around in the next year or two. It could be fun to speculate on these matters. With that in mind...
What will Hayley do after Paradiso? Another crossover album? A live album? A collection of her own songs? A selection of interesting duets? Another collaboration with a famous composer? A compilation of her many television and film songs? An attempt at opera? A foray into country 'n' western? An all-a cappella effort? A Beatles-themed album? More Japanese material? An additional Broadway Musical revival soundtrack? Her first movie role? A spoken-word CD? What do you think?

Something tells me her next album (international), is gonna be more pop themed, like HSJS, and this time known to the whole world , if she gains enough popularity through Paradiso, (which she will), a HSJS kinda album, would really be a big hit everywhere. I personally don't want her to attempt opera or Beatles stuff though, hehe.

Hi Steve M, Great post... I can envision Hayley involved in all of the works you have mentioned. Hayley can adapt to just about any type of role vocally. I would like Hayley to take part in a really popular movie soundtrack. Even would like to see her on America's Got Talent as a guest performer. I'd to see Hayley's next CD some slightly poppier songs of her own creation Best wishes , Joe

How "poppy" is "poppier"? I also kind of hope for ones like I Know You By Heart, too, and maybe some folksier songs like "I'll Fly Away" (from O Brother, Where Art Thou). I'm sure she'll still have a few songs that qualify as classical, unless she switches record companies. But I doubt that, at least not right away. AGT would be good, but I'd think they'd put her on BGT before they did America's, since she's somewhat more well-known there. As for popular movie soundtracks, there could be one in Dec. 2012 or 2013, depending on which of the 2 Hobbit movies they decide to have her sing for i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif... or maybe they'll have her do both! Renee Fleming sang for 2 of the LOTR soundtracks, so it's entirely possible. The movies should be at least as popular, if not more, as LOTR was. And remember Enya and Annie Lennox each sang their LOTR songs at the Academy awards, so this would be highly likely for Hayley, too, if she were to sing the theme song(s).

Where should she go? Well, she could do worse than release HSJS1 internationally (OK, I'm a stuck gramophone needle, for those who remember such things). But yes, I'm with Libby. She has been writing songs for a while. Her next album could well be what this one would have been if Ennio hadn't come along with his offer. After all, it seems she had already been working on it for a while before she got involved with Ennio. I imagine there is some good stuff there. So there will be a mix of Hayley compositions and collaborations with other composers. Plus maybe a smattering of covers. Who knows, even ALW might be reminded to write that song for her! Martin D

That's if he's paying any attention. So, when Paradiso comes out, and he sees how Ennio Morricone got to work with her and make a whole album for her... do you think he'll be saying, "Hey, that could've been me!" ? Well, I for one am glad it was Morricone, and not ALW. I much prefer it to broadway tunes. I do like Phantom of the Opera, though.

if she were to come out with another album, i would like it to be more of her own work. her own lyrics done with original music. i want to hear something new. paradiso is a great album. none of those songs have been on any of her other cd's which was a nice change compared to other cd's of hers that have some songs from other alums on it.
i'm not sure if i would want anything "poppy". i'm more into her classical/soothing (not sure what else to call it) songs such as dark waltz, let me lie, quanta qualia, even songs found on her "hayley sings japanese" cd's. i love the ones that pull on my your heartstrings, ones that when you hear it...you stop everything and focus solely on the music and lyrics of the song.
a new cd would be what i would hope for. definantly an international one. something i can find here in the u.s. without having to jump on the internet to get it....

BTW re Phantom, I don't suppose you have ever listened to Rick Wakeman's "Criminal Record", re;eased 1977. The last track "Judas Iscariot" is particularly interesting, composed as it was, some time before Phantom. You can find it on YouTube, but I can't post the link here since it is a commercial recording. Martin D

This post has been moved from the Paradiso US Release thread by Richard.Hi all, There is a recent interview with Hayley in an Italian site, and one of her answers seems interesting… of course it might be an old hat for some of you deep fans… but here it is. greetings, happyQ: Sir Tim Rice, one of the greatest authors of books for musicals, wrote the words to one of the songs of Paradiso, The Edge of Love. Have you ever thought about doing a musical? A:
"Yes, indeed, it is an idea I like. I love to be stimulated to try new things. For creating a musical, however, I know that it takes a very strong voice, well prepared and trained. For now I like what I do. But in the future who knows ... I'm 24, I have all the time to think about it."taken from: www.famigliacristiana.it/costume-e-societa/cultura/ascoltato/articolo/westenra_200911113955.aspx

However, she has now voiced my own concern and that has been the strength of her voice. I think singing has to be thought of in the same context as sport, such as running. There are long distance runners and short distance runners and the two do not mix. So with singing. I think Hayley's genre is the concert venue and the recording studio rather than the long haul but factors may change, she is still within the frame of developing her voice and her potential. I think 30 is the key age beyond which there is little new development and perhaps 20 to 30 years after that before deterioration starts showing. I use 'deterioration' in the wider sense of permanent change which may not necessarily be an actual deterioration per se. Peter S.
