Usually the long-running programme "Desert Island Discs" only features music selected by celebrities but until 3rd June the public have a chance to select their favourite tunes and maybe have them played on a special programme on 11th June. By going to their website (bbc.co.uk/radio4) you can make your choices but to stand a better chance of getting Hayley onto the playlist may I suggest we all select the same track e.g. "Whispers in a dream ?" Of course you could select a Hayley song for all 8 of your tracks but that may look as if we are trying to rig it, which of course we are ! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Multiple entries are not allowed. I tried but the website is too smart for that !

Hi Jeff,
I don't think they will play a song that is yet to be released in the UK perhaps we should think again?

Hi Jeff and Jim Yes, I think it's a great idea to agree what song we should request, but I think Jim is correct to suggest that it should be one more familiar in the UK (as much as I like the idea of it being "Whispers In A Dream"!) Perhaps Dave could suggest to Sara that she send a copy of "Paradiso" to the BBC! Best wishes Grant

Yes, we have fallen foul of that before. BBC radio will only play music that is commercially available in the UK. That restricts us a bit. I would really like to be able to suggest some of Hayley's more recent music, but that is hard - it is the wrong time of year for Winter Magic, and that leaves us with River of Dreams new recordings. Pity. Whispers in a Dream would be an excellent choice. How about "Now is the Hour" from ROD. It has a bit of Maori, and is very Hayley. Ot perhaps, going back further, the Caccini Ave Maria, or Dark Waltz or Summer Rain. Perhaps we need a poll!

Taking the above comments on board, I've gone for "Dark Waltz" but I will find plenty of other computers to vote on before Friday next week !

I've just heard the programme and although 25,000 people voted, Hayley didn't feature in the Top 8 but she would have been pleased to see Joni Mitchell was the highest placed female artist. Thanks for trying guys, anyway.

Thanks for your efforts guys! Yes, sadly, Hayley didn't figure but interestingly it was a 'poperatic' song that was no. 1, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, which is one of my personal pop favourites. BBC tries to explain the song here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-13761091Dave
