Hi guys, In view of what Roger told us about Hayley's reaction to all of this, I think it's best if we keep all discussion about it in one place, so i've consolidated all the posts about it in this original thread. I may amend the original thread title slightly if I can think of a better alternative! I hope those whose posts were moved will understand (sorry!) Cheers, Dave

That's OK Dave but Hayley was clearly not happy about it and surely it's her feelings that matter in all of this. On reflection the word "screech" was an exaggeration but I was in a state of shock that in her efforts to get a response from the dog, she was in serious danger of damaging her voice. Still, no harm done apparently so on with the show tonight.

I'm confused I don't understand what Hayley's 'sick of' which sounds like Hayley's was angry.

Hi Jon, I assume that Hayley was sick of all the fuss being made by the media circus - who probably got half the story wrong anyway. The Radio 4 interview is typical of misinformed journalism and a media who seemed to be interested in Hayley mainly because the story involved a dog. I am also guessing that they talked her into doing her vocal gymnastics on the show against her better judgement. What isn't clear to me is who Hayley is annoyed at - her publicists or the media. Possibly both! I'd have been furious in her place if they'd done that to me; don't they say "never work with children or animals"? But I do hope that Hayley will be able to look back on this in a few weeks time and laugh about it. Cheers, Dave (who has no inside information on this)

Thanks Dave, I thought it meant it was us going on about the article that Hayley was sick of, which shocked me a bit. I don't blame her if its the media she's mad with.

Because the event is a fact and we have agreed that while Hayley is irritated by it it remains a valid thread for debate, may I suggest a re-title. The comment was made when this was started that further thoughts might be forthcoming about title. Why don't we keep Hayley out of it by being simple: 'The Dog's view' or His Mistress' Voice'?

This thread was given its title because that was the title of the original article as appeared in the Times. As such, it is the only title which accurately reflects the subject contained therein.
We have never reckoned to change thread titles (apart from a minor adjustment to amend a date, for example), especially when it has already recieved as many replies as this one.
As it has been made clear that this story is something about which Hayley is not happy (for reasons unknown), I hope we can respect her wishes and allow it to reach its natural conclusion.
Thanks, Roger

Hi everyone! This has turned out to be a fascinating thread. Here are my $2 cents. I thought the article was funny and a good way to get people interested in Hayley who had never heard of her before. The interview wasn't bad either. After Jeff's post, I was bracing myself for a very poor vocal performance, but honestly, I didn't find it screechy at all... In fact, I recommend the clip as it really shows her amazing talent. I'm impressed not only by her high notes, but also by the fact that she was brave enough to attempt them live on radio! That is true talent, and if this was my first time hearing Hayley, I would have certainly looked up her music afterwards. It was unfortunate that the dog didn't react, but Hayley handled it very well; and I don't think this interview could discourage anyone from buying her album. I hope I'm not disrespecting her wishes by adding to this thread... Oksy

Hello folks! I wasn't going to bother, but I've just installed RealPlayer and listened to Hayley's spot on 'Today' from last Friday. Iggy Pup certainly wasn't co-operating, but Hayley survived the experience with both her voice and her good reputation intact. She came across as her normal self, and it was all good publicity for 'Treasure'. I'm now locking this thread, so the final words on the subject are "Well done Hayley!" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRichard
