Hi Stuart, That is a fascinating article but I think I have come up with a perfectly plausible explanation for the dog's behaviour. You see, Hayley was singing 'Laudate Dominum'. That is by Mozart and the dog prefers Bach! All right, I'm going! Roger Hi Roger, Our dog Penny prefers Bruce Springsteen !!! Whenever we play his CD from 1995 called * the ghost of tom joad *, Penny will chime into his harmonica tunes with very clear and pure howlings, accompanying Bruce perfectly !!! The song * the ghost of tom joad * is the only song she agrees to duet with him !!! We have entertained many a friend and visitor with their harmonies !!! Love, Marianne All credit for my pic. postings must go to Graeme !!!

Does Abbott's dog Iggy Pup bristle At high notes by Brightman or Sissel? Well apparently not, So it seems Hayley's got A one-of-a-kind canine whistle.

Hi everyone,
I think we all found this article fascinating. However, for reasons that are unclear, I am reliably informed that Hayley is "sick of it". Therefore, I would ask that anyone who will be seeing her tomorrow refrains from mentioning it.
You are, of course, welcome to discuss it further here.
Thanks, Roger

Very interesting news, Roger. We normally perceive she is in control, so what happened? 'It seemed like a good idea at the time?' Or someone pushed her in a direction by which time she chose politeness to follow through than express her reservations and stop the roller-coaster?
On the other hand, she always says she's prepared to try anything to see what works. Rarely does it go wrong for her which is why, when it doesn't, it seems calamitous. \stop there for a moment, 'calamitous'? For a lesser star perhaps, for Hayley... but a hiccup!

I love Jill's comment about not having a dog and so 'not being able top test it but, 'our bird always seemed to enjoy her singing'.
Lovely light-hearted comment which nails the 'calamitous' to a passing moment's humour and puts the whole thing firmly in its place!

Anyone who was listening to Radio 4 news around 7.45 this morning can well understand why Hayley is "sick of it." She tried to prove that the dog could hear her very high notes but unfortunately Iggy-Pup failed to perform. I rarely criticise anything Hayley does but this backfired badly. Anyone who was listening and didn't know who she was would not have gone out and bought an album or concert ticket on the strength of that interview. "Shenandoah" started off OK but ended up in a screech that had my ears ringing for some time afterwards. If you missed it (or can bear to listen again) you can hear the programme again on the Radio 4 website. I don't think we'll be hearing any more about Iggy-Pup so let's forget it and look forward to tomorrow night's concert. Sorry Jeff, we moved your original post around a bit

I'm sure Hayley would have intended this all to have been taken in good humour... Just like her mother Jill said in the NZ press article... "It all sounds like fun.."
I certainly don't think any harm has been caused at all. Personally I enjoyed the article (I ran out and bought the last copy of 'The Times' from my local newsagent) I think the story was great for publicity! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
I'll take the Radio Interview with a "pinch of salt" too!Andrew Moved for housekeeping

Hi Jeff and everyone else,
Just listened to the Radio 4 interview from this morning at 0745 hrs which Jeff referred to... (thanks for that Jeff!) Personally I don't think there were any issues with Hayley's interview or her singing performance. I still believe that this was a great way to make people stop and to capture attention... Hayley sang 'Shenandoah' beautifully and when she proceeded with her vocal gymnastics afterwards I thought "Wow... How high she really can sing!" i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Possibly the worst part of the programme was the radio presenter's pronounciation of "Westenra" at the beginning of the interview
