Thanks everybody. As I said, I don't have a problem with this at all. I was just wondering about it, that's all. As I've said over and over, I LOVE Amalia Por Amor!!

Ive commented previously about technical issues with this album, but I have to say that Amalia is one track that has been presented perfectly. It has just the right atmosphere for the content, and Hayley has given it such a genuine expresion that it's hard to accept she has never sung fado before. More than any other, this is the song that I most want to hear live when Hayley does her autumn tour. It will be fantastic.

I agree Roger. I would love to hear Hayley sing this live. It is about time she performed another dramatic track - it is a long time since Wuthering Heights.
And I suspect she would rather enjoy doing it. And the standing ovation I'm sure she would get afterwards.

But, umm, did you just spill some beans about an "autumn tour"?! Or are you just speculating?

But, umm, did you just spill some beans about an "autumn tour"?! Or are you just speculating? Hi Libby, I know your question wasn't directed at me but let's just say that it's not unreasonable to think that there will be a Paradiso tour later this year. We'll have to wait a while for confirmation though (if any), and to find out more. Cheers, Dave

Yes, I think there is plenty of circumstantial evidence that there will be such a tour. The staggered release dates of Paradiso in different countries for example. Why do that unless she intended to undertake promotional activities in the various territories around the time of release. Quite apart from Hayley's earlier metion of a "world tour" a few months ago now.

No, she corrected herself on that, Martin. Nicola told us she started to say "world tour" but then said, "err, pretty international tour". So even then it still wasn't quite a world tour. And that was almost a year ago when Nicola last interviewed Hayley, before the Battle of Britain tour began (or around that time). Also, remember it sounded as though a NZ tour had originally been planned for the time Hayley went to do promotional work there, but was postponed because of the earthquake. So maybe there will be one there sometime after the Quake Aid concert? Who knows when in August it will be? I assume it's before the UK release, of course. So, actually, after that, maybe that's when the UK/Europe concerts might take place. Then... dare I even say it... USA in October?!? Okay, Libby, don't get your hopes up.

I ave high hopes of both a UK tour in August/September and a US tour in October. Otherwise, why delay releasing the album.

That's the way I see it, too, but I'm just afraid the reason she changed her words to "pretty international tour" instead of "world" tour to mean that the U.S. would not be included. Or maybe that just means any tour here won't be very extensive. That wouldn't surprise me, but if she could at least hit a few major cities throughout the country, that would be amazing. I would travel to see her. Also, if she came to Canada, that might work out, too, but then I'll have to get a passport.

Well, I suspect she won't appear anywhere in Africa or South America. Maybe not Australia either. She wouldn't want to disappoint her fans in those places by giving the impression she might go there. But looking at the album release dates, I think USA is a real possibility.
I'm always amazed that so many Americans don't have passports. I carry mine everywhere, and have needed to use it twice this week already. But that is work related - I need a ID to get airside at an airport, and I need to do that as part of my job.

Martin D For US citizens traveling domestically, a Driver's License will suffice. Passports are only needed for international travels. And since the US is a large country geographically, there's less incentive for US citizens to leave the country for vacations.

It's a little different here, since Canada is only a few hours' drive away. In fact, our state issues "Enhanced" licenses, which makes it somehow easier for people who travel back and forth to B.C. a lot. I check ID at work nearly all day, and lots of people have those nowadays. They have to keep it in a special envelope, because it has some kind of magnetic thing in it that can be tracked, and can be messed up in some way if it's not encased (don't ask me how). The last time I went to Canada was when I was quite little, and had no need for a passport. I really have no recollection of passing through the borders, either. I mostly just remember the Orca whales at the aquarium. Even if Hayley does come to Seattle, if she comes to British Columbia, too, I would try to go there, as well. And especially if she didn't come to Seattle or any other part of the Western U.S.

Why do that unless she intended to undertake promotional activities in the various territories around the time of release.... One reason to stagger the release dates of Paradiso might be so they can tailor each version to its intended audience. Maybe the British version will have a more classical feel while the American release will sound a trifle more "poppish". They've never been shy about varying Hayley's albums from place to place. Would it surprise anyone if they even renamed the American version "Italian Paradiso" (**SPAM? PLEASE REPORT la "Celtic Treasure")?

Actually, that would surprise me, because that would be positively stupid. Celtic Treasure actually makes sense, and the version actually did have more so-called "Celtic" songs on it. But Paradiso is not any more Italian for us than it is for the UK or New Zealand! I don't think Decca would be even that ridiculous. And as far as changing the sound of the music for the "different" audiences, do you really think Morricone would allow them to ruin his compositions? Already, so far, at least, it appears that they've kept all of the same songs for each release. That already is something they've never done before. I just don't think they'd even be ludicrous enough to alter Ennio's songs. That would utterly ruin them!! Yes, it's possible they could change the tracks between now and October, but there really is absolutely no reason for them to do so. What song on this album would they eliminate? Already there are only 14 songs. Which song would they take out? And would they give us a different song that nobody else has, like My Heart Belongs to You for Odyssey (I actually could've lived without that and taken O Mio Babbino or Mists of Islay instead)? And how exactly would they make the album more classical? It already seems pretty classical to me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm going to give Decca the benefit of the doubt this time and predict that they're probably going to leave this one as is.
