Hello folks! I think Hayley's moving performance at the National Memorial Day Concert should boost the US sales of Paradiso, but Decca need to get the promotion right as well. Richard Hi Richard, I hope you are right but fear it is to far ahead of the release so I think promotion by Decca is the key.

Hi Simba,
Publicity/promotion is what will sell Paradisso. The people of the USA will not buy something they have not heard of and Hayley will not have the advantage of a huge budget TV show to boost sales.
I do not begrudge Jackie her success I love her voice even though I am not to keen on her operatic style. Far worse singers than Jackie have benefitted from the large publicity machines of companies like SYCO.

Well, Americans seem to have taken to Jackie Evancho - a classical crossover singer with much less originality than Hayley displays on Paradiso. Why is this, if Americans don't like beautiful voices? Or is Jackies popularity only due to her young age or nationality. If that is so I fear for Jackie's future in the US, and as one commenter said on her YouTube BGT video, she needs to be based in the UK!
Yey I, like you Libby, just don't believe it. In America, as in the UK, the majority of people are not very interested in music for its own sake, and are much more interested in "celebrities" or those who appear on TV irrespective of talent. Someone also comented that BGT this year only went to prove that Britain HASN'T got much talent - or ar least undiscovered musical talent that will have anything to do with Simon Cowell (which might not be the same thing).

Hi Simba, I wouldn't be too concerned about Wikipedia, anyone can alter it and it's been edited apparently by someone who doesn't know much about the genre. Charlotte Church hasn't released a Classical Crossover studio album for 10 years (Enchantment) and her last album (a pop album Back To Scratch) charted worse than Hayley's last International one (Treasure). Charlotte is a pop singer with a style nothing like Jackie Evancho and who currently charts lower than Hayley (though she is of course more widely known about, especially in the US). Cheers, Dave

Yeah I thought the same, but then that page is semi-protected and not everyone can edit, because I wanted to immediately edit it to say Hayley Westenra and Sarah Brightman XD....Thanks though

Yes, I found I can't edit it either. And I would do the same thing. I wonder who CAN edit it!

Hi Simba and Martin D, We are drifting off topic in this thread now so need to be careful, but I'll just add that it might be possible for you to join in the Wikipedia 'Discussion' about that page to point out the misleading comparison with CC as she now is - so someone who CAN edit it will do so if they agree. Of course you can only suggest Hayley as a better comparison - it's going to be up to those who can edit to accept or decline the suggestion, so they are going to need persuading! I think they have restricted editing on Jackie's page because there is a lot of controversy about her so there have been "edit-wars" which had to be stopped. We may be better to continue this in the Jackie Evancho thread or perhaps a new "Hayley on Wikipedia" thread in Miscellaneous. Dave

While it is a long way away till the US release of Paradiso... I don't see why that would be a problem. Anybody who saw her performance and liked her would probably do a search, and they'd go to her website, and see that she does have an album out. Even though her official site doesn't mention the US release (otherwise Hayley would probably know the date), they can still hear a few glimpses of it in the videos, plus some of her older albums. If they're interested enough, they could still very well decide to buy her older albums. I have seen new fans who come onto the official forum who say they've just discovered her, and say they've ordered all her albums! And that's happened more than once! And remember the guy who said he was "Buying this whole CD!! [Pure]" after he'd heard Dark Waltz on the So You Think You Can Dance show? And Pure has been out for nearly 7 years (in the US). So, you see, her albums don't have to be new in order for new fans to want them. Of course we especially want them to buy Paradiso, but isn't it nice if they buy her other albums, too? Well, at least we have one guaranteed purchase of Paradiso upon its release, because of the Memorial Day concert: Michelle Baugh and family! Hey, that's better than nothing. And we can alway be sure remind her when the time comes, just to be sure.

Well said Libby, So, you see, her albums don't have to be new in order for new fans to want them. Of course we especially want them to buy Paradiso, but isn't it nice if they buy her other albums, too? Unlike many mainstream "artists" that sell because they are trendy, and in a couple of years no one will remember them or their music! Fortunately! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifPaulo Correia

Indeed! Hayley's music is timeless! I've always said she could have been a success in any era! And that means her music lasts and will last indefinitely.

Way to go bringing a positive light on this topic Libby! I'm glad to hear all that. And Hayley's music is "music", so I'm not surprised if it has no end Hayley has been very careful to make every music of hers something memorable forever, she has made a mark on every one, a permanent one. Go Hayley, I always pray for you! to reach stellar heights! I know this album would be a huge success in the US, that you'd be nominated for the Grammy awards next year and win it!(maybe a couple)

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but I am hoping she will win a "Classic" Brit Award (I still can't get used to the new name). And how come she never wins NZ awards anymore? Just that one time she did. Well she was nominated in 2007, though, I think. I distinctly remember her there with her mum, clad in the Shepherd's Bush red dress!
