Hello Drew! You beat me by a whisker. Hayley's participation is subject to confirmation by her management, but tickets go on general sale next Wednesday: Richard

Here's the write-up about the concert; I particularly like the second quote about Hayley's participation, which I put in bold: Not sure I'm liking the idea of Hayley going so close to Northern Africa.

Hi, everyone, it is exciting that Hayley is visiting new places in Europe! That gives me hope that maybe she will come to Spain...
Libby, I really think Malta is as safe as any other country in the EU (because it is in the EU), and even safer than some other, because it is not participating in any conflicts there and is not a NATO member.

Malta is OK Libby. And just about impregnable too with all those fortifications. Even if anyone was stupid enough to attack an EU country.
But I think those N African countries already have their hands full!

Martin D i do rather take her point though, it could be rather tempting for the cultured terrorist to take an interest in a nearby princess... however, internal strife usually stays in the same country... and besides hayley could cleverly disguise herself as a normal girl at any sign of trouble. isnt malta sort of british??

Okay. It does sound like a nice place to do a concert! So, is Joseph Calleja a well-known singer in Europe? Is this going to help boost Hayley's career there even more (I hope so!)? And yes, I hope she goes to Spain for Michal, and Portugal for Paulo!

Well, Spiderman, I actually think that for radical islamic terrorists, England, France or Spain would be a much more interestin objective than Malta, Malta has always been neutral in the recent conflicts in that part of the world.
As for Malta, I believe it is in the Commonwealth, was under British control till the 60s and 70s, but now it has not as much conection with the UK as New Zealand or Canada, but I may be wrong.
And, Libby, I haven't heard of Calleja, I tend to think he is only very popular in Malta, so I don't think it will have such an impact on the rest of Europe... But, once again, I may be wrong. And, thanks for the wishes, it would be awesome if she came to Spain..

Can we please keep this thread on topic please. Discussions on conflicts involving NATO countries or indeed anywhere else is not relevant to this concert.

Thank you very much Libby, it would be awesome if Hayley came to Portugal , Spain, maybe somewhere between me and Michal, so we could both attend. Best wishes, Paulo Correia

So, if Calleja isn't that well-known elsewhere, I'm just curious as to how it was decided Hayley should go to Malta. I'd never heard of it before now. Did they invite her to boost Calleja's career? Or did her management decide she should go? Is she popular there?
